Made it across the time-space bend of business travel last week...against all odds i actually got where i was going and back again..which was a decided improvement over the last business trip i took. Our air transportation system is now a concept which can be stated as---"ya pay yur money, and take yur chances" ah-yes republican deregulation of the air carrier industry has worked sooooo well--as with so many items within our culture now, nothing actually gets fixed in the airline industry---by traveling in the air carrier system one is deep in chaos theory.....random events makes it work or not for the customer...nonetheless here i am. This trip i realized there is a Moore's Law for carry on luggage--other peoples carry on luggage appears to get bigger every time i fly...i am a check one bag, carry only a briefcase onboard kinda guy-- that is what the system is/was designed for.. i am such a minority now---the standard, is unfortunately,--a great, huge, real suitcase disguised as carry on--and these super sized carry ons are toted by the pure shit category of passenger... like grandma has such an important meeting to get to she can't be held up at baggage claim? Ah well i am getting more and more used to surviving in a 3rd world organizational environment for business travel that i only notice a successful trip now..and this is the best it is ever going to be.
This one you'll love--a pilot would not fly, the flight was cancelled because he was upset about his HAT--yes his hat.

"The very existence of flame throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, 'You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."-------george carlin
The death of George Carlin has depressed me so. One's path in life is lit at odd moments by the brilliance of only a few people and he was one for me. I considered him a philosopher that made you laugh, not a comedian. Laughing was not the point with him, thinking was. Carlin got fired from a job in las vegas once by telling a casino audience---
"People who go to Las Vegas, you've got to question their fucking intellect to start with. Traveling hundreds and thousands of miles to essentially give your money to a large corporation is kind of fucking moronic. That's what I'm always getting here is these kind of fucking people with very limited intellects."
How about that eh? I will miss him greatly.
Suddenly there is a rash of articles in general print and tv news on the segway. The spin on these articles is now that the segway Human Transporter is a viable idea??? The media and standard human shitheads have been hammering the segway for years screaming dork and nerd at anyone utilizing one. Now with $5.00 a gallon gas approaching they appreciate the concept...Inventors and their supports the early adopters must be destined to face this....over and over and over again..through history and through life. One percent of the human race does the thinking for the masses. While the masses scream dork....

I've entered a new area for me---the smart phone...my wife, do i love her, got me a HTC Mogul smartphone recently...i've loaded it with my phone book, set up the software for the phone with the laptop and now i am just awaiting the activation of my phone Internet service---aha! Soon i hope to understand the fascination the Japanese have with this style of mobile phone tech. On first impression my mojo is impression with the switchblade like sliding keyboard it is like instant transformation from phone to ultra small laptop. I'll let you know how this new step for me works out.

Shit, you know this anti-smoking vendetta has gone too far when the Dutch are policing hash cafes in Amsterdam to make sure that people are only smoking weed, and not violating the EU ruling on no smoking of the demon cigarettes in public places...unbelievable....

This i really, really love. A French artist who specializes in transforming ugly industrial architecture into art...making the nearby residents view out their windows a bit more human..this is so very cool...so where i think we should go

Continuing to keep my paranoid eye on the dick cheney's of the oil world--the northeast consumer had better brace themselves for the upcoming price of heating oil...many people in the northeast are going to see their heating costs double. Plus the human race is starting to figure out their bullshit--we are working hard for you--and please forgive our lining our pockets at the expense of your life----tv ads.

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/06/28/northeast_braces_for_home_heating_oil_increases/ Ok--we're busy working on the housing upgrades--planted 5 more trees this week and that really, really feels so good-remoding a shed to store the segway for easy get on an go--new floor in the nerd cave, sweeping the porches. Who knows---someday we may even get done.
take care, do good things with your life, think, fight the republican future, write, do art....

Just attempting to survive through work this week so i can get the huge reward of business air travel next week---aarrgh! I look forward to traveling by air like i look forward to attending a hillbilly wedding...lots and lots of shuddering involved---in fact the majority of aircraft occupants appear to me as if they are likely in route to a fellow hillbilly's wedding. Don't worry I'm not going to rant yet...but without a doubt i will when i get back..just giving you fair warning. To display the true duality of life however this entry is all about HOPE...this hope does not include next week's air travel, that industry is completely without hope---but the below material has brought me hope--a unique experience lately...
I'm ecstatic--there's water on Mars and i could say alot about water=life blahblahblah...and i could discuss how magnificent is the completion of 40 years, two generations of science and engineering work... but if you do not realize, or do not care How important finding water on Mars is go to another blog, go there now! There is hope for life elsewhere---tremendous!

I admit that i do think that the higher pricing of gasoline is in many ways good for our society....put down the pitchfork and think for a minute...the below links to articles on how we are driving less than last year it is not huge but still culturally significant.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/05/26/gas.driving/index.html
A subsurface thought pattern change for the American Public....the cost of gasoline has finally turned our culture's attention to important subjects that have been ignored due to cannibalistic, republican, capitalist propaganda..in other words the bush cartel's mantra of ----consume mindlessly---believe only me ---and therefore be a good American... may be over....are we starting to think again after 8 years of fear based brainless reaction to any and everything?---are you done being whipped into a frenzy by this, so called, leadership?---the culture is now thinking about conservation, thinking about how to build a quality lifestyle within guidelines, thinking about saving rather than random destruction...i am at last hopeful... it took the shock of the fall of the housing market, the rise in the price of gasoline and Iraq to stop our society being a republican led fear based, consumption mob. The graph displayed shows a possible new pattern---my personal rants against suburban McMansions is apparently not a voice in the wilderness any longer...Americans are planning/building smaller homes according to a report by American architects--Americans are thinking about smaller, greener, higher quality homes designed to actually be lived in compared to the previous demands for insecure Lawyer style, huge homes far from services...another small step in the right direction...again i am hopeful.

It is astounding to me the way people seem to react badly to segways---although they reacted badly to my prius 16 months ago as well, the stupid react badly naturally i suppose---this too may be changing---popular mechanics ran an article on how the Segway Human Transporters time has come...http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/transportation/4268712.html
The wall street journal has suddenly discovered the human transporter and now thinks well of it apparently...
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121357738002676071.html?mod=googlenews_wsj without a doubt it is my Karma to suffer slings and arrows, due to my habit of thinking a year ahead and incorporating appropriate technology into our existence..my segway i2 is due in 07-15 and i can barely wait...i don't give a shit what people think or say but the title sums it all up "laugh while you can monkey boy!" electric transport sets one free from the dick cheney's of the world---go ahead and be a slave thinking you are the cool one...I ordered my Human Transporter because it is the only affordable, viable electric vehicle on the market RIGHT NOW---- not some corporate scam offering a better future from GM or some other car company---I do bristle since the brainless do not understand Dean Karman's futuristic goals for his invention...his desire to make the world a better place...to hear the concept behind the invention of the segway ht direct from the inventor go here an play this video of a presentation he made at TED.
http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/9
Listen to this man and if he does not touch you, no one can help you. I am hopeful however. Besides what's good enough for Jackie Chan, is good enough for me...
http://www.ecorazzi.com/2008/06/12/jackie-chan-owns-a-segway-dealership-hell-yea/

A seed of hope expands alittle when i read that the stupidity of the Conservative wing of our culture who refuses to think of legalization as it relates to Marijuana is down to 20% of the whole...
within my hope there is the spark of reason advising that someday while i still live intelligence may reign on this issue...i am lucky to live in a state where personal possession of under an ounce gets you a ticket, and a $35.00 fine----just wait till i retire...my goal---Froley in the movie Children of Men----which brings me to this article...

As a close two items to simply enjoy and think on...the latest discovered crop circle measurement works out perfectly to Pi..marvelous! I don't care who did this---the pattern alone is beautiful--but to mathematically equal out to Pi--wondrous! http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/article.html?in_article_id=181169&in_page_id=2 another beautiful little item advises that an English Police helicopter chased a UFO over the city of Cardif until it disappeared...love it.
a great place to shop is the Unemployed Philosophers Guild--worth buying something just to get a package with their name on it http://www.philosophersguild.com/index.lasso?page_mode=Product_Detail&cat=food&skip=8&item=0967

I'm so glad to realize that i have not actually lost hope---it felt like i did for quite a long time--and almost lost myself to despair....this week i worked hard at retuning my brain to the hope channel. Think for yourself, do good things, be less dependent on others, own your money and don't give it to anything remotely republican.Above all else VOTE this November...and have hope.

We are somewhere near the middle of our personal transition from big footprint--big living to small footprint--quality living. I simply cannot believe that actually thinking in regards to the world around us, meant that we are ahead of the social capital graph curve in regards to debt, housing and transportation. Even though I feel as if my wife and I have quite a distance in this project yet to go....we are far in advance of where i thought we would be right now....I must have had 4 people asking to commute into work with me in my prius this week. I am going to start commuting in with a rider, a fellow worker who'll split the gas cost---reducing my cost for a 368 mile weekly commute down to about 11.00 a week....When i purchased this vehicle 14 months ago i was, in most people eyes, just a strange eco-geek like creature who thought too much. It is no coincidence to me that the individuals who are today trapped in debt going broke driving unsaleable SUV's their unsellable houses on the market, these people also supported the war in Iraq, stopped thinking, voted Republican and forgot what is right...this process produces consistent results you know? Most in our society have done nothing about downsizing--- nothing about taking control of their existence---eliminating their debt, asking the hard questions of their leadership--they still rely on false information...do you remember Bush verbally hammering a reporter who simply asked in a press conference if there was a plan for a price rise to 4.00 a gallon gasoline? Bush hammered the poor guy--tried to make him look like a jerk---whose the jerk now---and he just gave a measly 30 million for hybrid vehicle research?? This is a joke of a policy, a joke of a culture. WAKE UP!! Take back control of your mind and your life...................................................I got one! Thanks to the best wife in the world..a segway i2, in black, lean steer technology, state of the art batteries, delivery in early July...i am beside myself...it was so important to me, the principle of the thing--- to have a viable form of electric transportation even if range is limited to 20 miles...to basically tell the Republicans and the Saudi's to BITE ME! I'm electric---although their grubby hands are still in my pocket for 11.00 aweek in gas--it's over soon--time for a real job you guys.. it's important to show that a change in mindset and appropriate technology can change the world.

Hilary has finally pulled the pin...thank God...i was afraid for awhile that the democratic party could screw this up even with the two most viable democratic party candidates in a lifetime.....i must stay positive about the American public electing obama...i have to hope that we have learned our lesson from the bush years, that we have put away our insane fears that he played to and used to rule through our own stupidity...that we can recover individual freedoms and recover the natural American sentiment that we are a nation of the future not a nation destined to live in fear of any and everything...that we can begin to invest in OUR people, OUR infrastructure, and OUR economy by kicking out the bush cannibalistic capitalists who raped our treasury for their own fortunes....i hope the conservative christian political element that are no different than radical, conservative mullahs they preach against are done forever.....that we immediately pull out of Iraq and rebuild our own nation...rebuild it green...rebuild our reputation in the world at large as a peaceful nation and not as the bully we have become. We do not need an enemy any longer to exist as a society... that is immature....we do not need fear of terrorism to prop up stupidity in leadership...we do not need to remain childish as a nation....we do not need these concepts we do not want them...OK enough of this political self abuse....I'm just so happy that we have a clear cut choice this time...and as Mr.T said "Pity the Fool" who does not take advantage of this opportunity for change.

Discovered this little interesting item...the nation with the largest military on earth is apparently financially unable to feed their children a nutritious school lunch. Supposedly we cannot afford healthy food and rising food prices without parity in federal budgeting is crippling school lunch programs across the country...WE ARE DOING THIS ALL WRONG...
I want to integrate a segway into the smaller footprint living concept my wife and i are constructing. Everything we are doing is designed around, smaller size, higher quality of life, using less and creating more...each of these elements involved in an active lifestyle while rotating around the intelligent usage of technology as the mainstay of our little art colony.I have truly attempted without success, resisting the purchase of a segway...but i have come to the realization that there is only a small possibility of a viable electric car becoming available in 2010 and 2-3-5 years is too long to wait to travel electrically. If i wish to uphold the smaller footprint concept a segway it is..for the foreseeable future. I am hoping to charge the segway when i get it off my new solar panels. A 60 watt output given by my panels would be perfect for this charging application. It is now back to researching, planning, researching, studying, designing to become self-powered, two wheeled transit capable..I do not have enough time left to wait for the rest of American society to catch up to where i want to be....we are creatively living in a house the size of 8.2 parking spaces---1200 square feet--(how did i figure that one out? here is a link to a great site called, sensible units, which calculates any measurement into terms easily understood---like the fact that 1200 square feet equals 8.2 parking spaces--this is very cool and you need to bookmark it.
http://www.sensibleunits.com/ ) we are enjoying this process...i do have to admit that it limits conversations when we are reducing our lifestyle and everyone else is constantly attempting expansion...the up side is that we have money in the bank, can maintain our own property, lack for nothing and use less...
here's the most recent reading list--purchased but not yet started:
1491...new revelations of the America's before Columbus by Charles C. Mann-- I've picked up and put down this book multiple times---always intending to buy it someday---and yesterday was the day. I've been interested in the recent change in attitude on new world societies prior to Columbus and this book supposedly covers these concepts.
and:
Uncertainty--Einstein,Heisenberg,Bohr and the struggle for the soul of science--by David Lindley. Covering the debate on the Heisenberg uncertainty principle...once again I've wanted this book for quite a while..thinking about purchasing it, picking it up and putting it back on the shelf--so i guess this recent book expedition was all about past desires.....

I just love the weirdness of Japan you must let what they do roll over you like a wave without trying to figure it...it was no coincidence that Japan was the setting of the break through cyberpunk novels of William Gibson....this is a link to a site with photo's of the undescribable Harajuku fashion statements made on the streets in certain area's....it is like the future is already the past in places on earth...amazing.
It's really all a process isn't it? I'm finally after 56 years I am coming to grips with that statement..everybody's got to go at their own rate in understanding the universe..there's no owner's manual...so we do the best we can..Read, do art, don't listen to spin doctors, help your neighbor, improve your living space (it will make you smarter)keep a pocket notebook to jot down idea's and concepts, plant flowers, play with your dog, compute, drink coffee, smoke cigarettes and philosophize about everything...
