A thought experiment i have been working on recently revolves around a "sudden" realization that has been brought home to me as a result of the global warming debate, the green lifestyle, green architecture and the inhabit movement of the current generation. I seemingly, logically strolled up to the fact that the original back to the land movement,neo-tribalistic, whole earth catalog, the true "moonbaby farmer" hippies of my generation were correct, accurate and ahead of their time... they were absolutely RIGHT-eh? Of course this may choke some where they sit reading this but i have to admit...they were right---about all of it--- No one in the "new" wave of green living really seems to want to acknowledge this---that their movement has a history based on people named "moonbaby"---the theories on these issues today are more technologically--individually orientation rather than group/commune/tribal orientated--but the overwhelming majority of the singular objectives are the same. I believe there might be a fear of labeling--today's techocrats do not want to be considered as "drop-outs" from society at large but a level above society at large.....i can see this in myself sometimes when my "holier than thou" self leaps out on these pages. It is however my belief that we are moving to a split in society of techno vs. non-techno...in abilities, life style and advantages---the old version of techno's--hippies--worked with the material they had on hand..........an excellent example is
a book on my shelf that i've had for awhile--- "new buffalo" by Arthur Kopecky.....a collection of his journal entries while living on a commune outside of Taos New Mexico....the group he was active in was experimenting in the commune/farmer concept...it is a rather unique book, like reading a diary of a time long past....if we allow ourselves to think back---to who brought up let's see--- solar power, natural foods, holistic medicine, self-reliance, "it takes a village", energy conservation, alternative architecture---these subjects were all first out of the mouths of people with self-created names like moonbaby and Boris.......
i found this on the web but i could'nt find their location---floating individual hotel rooms.....it appears as if they may have been fashioned out of surplus survival lifeboats?? at any rate, sure footing is apparently an absolute if one is staying the night here---notice the incredibly narrow walkway to the hatch on the side....not the thing to try and traverse after a party evening out-----the interior photo's indicate that i would without a doubt feel very "spam in a can" like---nothing like pink fur to spice up your lifeboat hotel room eh??....although i am usually a fan of any alternative, usable architectural concept, this rascal i'd have to rate as a "what were you thinking?" kinda thing....
i have not been writing on the hybrid much lately because i've been off work.....no commute--it's been sitting in the garage, actually making us money--the last time i filled up gas was $3.19 9/10ths a gallon here and yesterday it was up to $3.46 9/10ths so i actually made a profit by staying home from work, yup-- I'm a profit making, gasoline futures trader---...i did however wish to post a personal photo i took of my mileage screen with the highest mileage i recorded for one complete mile---- when you carry your digital camera around simply to take 'proof of life' photo's of your recorded mileage it might be a signal that your brain is malfunctioning...........it is so weird how much i am enjoying being sooooo right, for once in my life, buying the hybrid-- with the price of gas skyrocketing I want to dance around the parking lot at work singing "nah-na-nah-na-nah-"
I've been a lackadaisical in the watch world recently--just alot of life going on--i did manage to take a break and here are a few items i've prowled off of ebay that interested my watch otaku---a couple of black/primary colored modern type chronographs----the round face watch is incredibly expense and the square faced watch incredibly cheap, yet both watches are working off the same design concept--the ying/yang of the chronograph world, i don't really like these at all!! but the design is interesting---I am a standard, big face, chronograph kinda guy---there's a shop in california dealing on ebay alot recently that apparently specializes in rebuilt omega chronographs which are extremely reasonably priced for bidding--my new jersey chromosomes will not allow me to bid on anything they put up however-even tho this would be the only possible way in this universe for me to get a black faced, black banded omega chronograph---i just can't activate the bid button---it without a doubt would cause spontaneous human combustion to a new jeseryite--it must be so much easier shop ebay if you're from iowa or south dakota.....no anti-scam chromosomes to fight...
i have been pretty content with myself lately. i'm working my way through an extensive to do list on the house, cars, and computers while off work---consuming mass quantities of books, thinking big thoughts on the nature of society, working up my solar power experiment to another level..and allowing my brain to travel where both it and i wish it to go and not simply to work for money...my wife and i are consuming the Tv series Millennium on dvd....all in all life is very good right now....with
