Chaos and the Butterfly Effect

I never blend. I reside in New Mexico where a Ford F-450 tandem, diesel, Pickup is considered a compact----and I drive a Prius. Where everyone owns at least one Harley and pretends to be a Son of Anarchy--- me?  I ride a Segway. I just have never been able to blend where ever I have been. The best thing about growing older is now I don't even think about my failure to blend---old people are allowed to be eccentric... for the first time in my life I don't blend it's completely OK and I can finally take a breath and just be myself.

This week was much better at work compared to last---I played a mind trick convincing myself that my co-workers were all escaped mental patients.....it worked excellently.

50.8 miles per gallon for my weekly commute average--a bit down from last week but severely hot, 111 degree,  Sirocco like headwinds on the way home dropped me 3 tenths of a mile per gallon as compared to last week.

What you see piled up here is, for us, a year’s worth of green beans, awaiting canning. Having enough green beans put away for the entire year is thanks to my wondrous wife JOJO...beautiful aren't they--I hate being right in predicting what is now becoming a general news story on unknown price increases for basic foodstuffs for this coming fall, winter, spring and early summer...none are sure of how our society will react when the truth of how very bad this year’s destructive harvest is known for sure. Our previous, Mensa President Bush, the younger, in his first term of office, sold off--completely,  the national grain reserve of our country, calming we were so good at farming now it was unnecessary to stockpile reserves for dire times. And of course his 1%er buds made incredible profits on the sale of stockpiled corn and wheat------ there is nothing now stockpiled for us to fall back on as a nation.....I have been advising since my first blog posting to store food---it is close upon us that you may need what you have personally stored to supplement available foodstuffs in late 2012 and 2013. If you have made no preparations I wish you good luck---the grasshopper and the ant fable---has never been more of a viable, educational tool.

I am working on my first 1/35th scale, military modeling diorama. There seems to be no end of detail I find necessary to accomplish---I am attempting to represent the British Army's--- 47th London Rifles during an at home military exercise around 1925...the three mutts troopers are sort of hiding out drinking tea and smoking...I have an officer figure on the way who I will place sort of standing, watching them,  before he tears their asses up for sandbagging....the Rolls Royce armored car you will be familiar with from previous postings--I've added a British Army 10hp Austin utility truck, I recently built, as a supply vehicle, cobblestone street and stone wall behind them, all mounted on a cheap picture frame....

I still have to detail the vehicles with some painting and parts, change heads on one figure---build power poles, add a fire hydrant and on and on...to recreate a small piece of the world in detail, is, I am finding, very difficult--but the sewer grate, and manhole cover I am rather proud of...when closer to completion I will attempt to take much better photographs of the finished product--the currently posted photo is just to display the work in progress to this point.
This weekend I am planning on finishing what I can on this current diorama, while awaiting the final officer figure to arrive as well as starting on my first tank model construction---a twin turret, 1925, Vickers 6 ton experimental infantry tank. I am not planning on building a scene around this particular model--just a proper display base. I am going to have to invest in covered display cases to keep the sun and dust from destroying all this work...it is worth it, modeling has finally allowed me to surgically remove work from my brain both on the weekends and during daily sleep.

I care absolutely nothing about cell phones. If it was not for my wife I would not carry one. She is the only person I actually call....I do not keep it close to hand on the weekend, I plug it in at the furthest corner of the house leave it there till Monday and could care if it rings.....
This creates problems with some people who apparently shower with their mobile phone on?  They think you should be available at any given moment to discuss anything mundane they think important. This unique species of human actually gets pissed off when they cannot reach you on demand.... When I retire--this bastard phone is out in the trash.

Add Facebook-Twitter to the things i care absolutely nothing about as well..never been on them, never plan to be. The article linked below advises  that not being engaged in these electronic conversations of the stupid...would make a possible employer think that I may be a sociopath...

How many times do i have to say it Clarice? The term is:
 High Functioning Sociopath.

this should turn out well for the people who wrote it!

I have in route the below book, Mechanized Force, British tanks between the wars by David Fletcher. I paid way too much for this book which is out of print and available as used only. This is my focus area in modeling and reference material on this particular time frame is severely limited. Not many are interested in the time when clockwork, steam-punk, and clean concept warfare principles reigned-- until World War Two raised the ugly reality of death by who can produce the largest number of machines which are the most efficient at killing humans....I am really looking forward to reading this work--the only one of it's kind still available.

The Latest brilliant Government plan is to reduce the number of USDA inspectors at Chicken processing plants from the ungodly huge number of 4 at each plant to 1 at each plant. The employee's will be trained to conduct health inspections and discard diseased chicken carcasses.
Yeah, this is for sure the way to do this--let's just give corporate poisoning completely free reign for profit shall we--let's not even keep up a pretense at attempting to keep the public safe...it's just way to much trouble to pretend. This is from an Administration that claims to be Democratic---I can't wait until the Republicans get in office.....

Theorie Analytique des Probabilities

Too hot for even a loincloth in New Mexico this week. The Prius's thermometer read 111 degree's on the way home today. Even in this kind of heat I managed 51 miles per gallon for the average on this week's commute. The garden is producing thanks to the wonder of shade cloth---otherwise i believe it would be burnt to a crisp as are the majority of crops in the United States are right now----
The rest of this and next will see the price of food basics rise beyond levels that have not yet been seen.
I am very disconnected this week from everything. It has been as if the world resides within a zoo, and I am a patron walking from exhibit to exhibit observing it's inhabitants.

and of course work sucked.

Investment bankers and jails should not mean investment---after the raping Goldman Sachs has given the American Public---all their upper management should be bent over in the shower in prison--- not investing in them. No matter what the line of crap they give out in the below linked article...it's profit they are after....they own the government, the police and the prisons.
When are you going to start being afraid?

Gandhi said it best "I like your Christ, but not so much your Christians".

You can't make up this kind of duplicity---An Indiana mega-church pastor, author of several books on marriage and it's holiness---gets caught by cell phone photo's of him making out with a definitely under the age limit little chick, in a car in the parking lot of the "what's happening now" mega-church. Of course he's married...For awhile yet anyway. Ignorance prevails. There will be people dropping money in that churches collection plate this Sunday....these are the people refusing basic human rights to gays--while they feel up little chicks in parking lots----

The Olympics---Something i care absolutely nothing about---an international group of genetic freaks perform amazing stunts. These people appearing at the Olympics have nothing more in common with us average humans than do the X-men--they are mutants--discovered, chosen and trained from childhood to use their mutant advantages to grace the covers of cereal boxes...Mutants.....I have never watched this shit nor do i care how many medals our Mutants win again the enemy Mutants.....

Strange how the true feelings of the 1% slip out unless they monitor every single word they say in front of us.....We the unwashed mob....The Romney's are worth by themselves. alone, the total wealth of the last 8 American President's--and believe me the Bush Family was no slouch at piling the money up.......I am so sure that Mitt and Ann feel our pain........

My return to plastic modeling has been excellent, mentally for me. Not only does this hobby provide an outlet for my watch maker syndrome but it provides a readily available mental escape hatch at work. It seems as if with the flick of a switch i can be physically sitting in a meeting at work---but be mentally planning the build and painting of one of my kits at home. I have been enjoying this instant escape capability.
At the top is a photograph of the, completed, but yet to be detailed, 1920 Rolls Royce Armoured Car. I am planning on adding an additional British military utility vehicle of the 1920's, park walls, manhole cover and one or two figures to this cobblestone street scene which i am basing on a British interwar army exercise at home in the late 1920's--British equipment from 1919 to 1940 seems to provide that steampunk, clockwork design element that i love to represent...nothing else seems to interest me at this particular point in time. I will be working on this diorama this weekend...(you can click on any of these blog photo's for an enlargement if you wish)

below is the

The Graf Zeppelin completed.. all 40 some odd inches of it...actually a very simple kit to construct which displays very well--here on the shelf i salvaged specifically for it in the nerd cave......the most difficult part was actually the painting and fitting of parts....with very little direction provided by the kit instructions.

Beltrami's Pseudosphere

Work sucked of course---
A week of ups and downs...glad it's over and to obtain my two days of freedom. Currently reading several books at one time....all purchased used...

Cry Wolf by Wilbur Smith is actually a great reread for me...originally published in 1976..featuring armored cars, mercenaries and the war between Italy and Ethiopia in the 1930's....at the same time reading The Hindenburg--an illustrated history...which is a beautiful, well written book I picked up extremely cheap, used but in perfect condition...

Just purchased and enjoyed LOCK OUT on DVD. Made in cooperation with Luc Besson (who directed the 5th element) LOCK OUT has received some stupidly bad press on the Internet for one reason--the basis of the plot---the US President's daughter is on a humanitarian visit to a sub-orbital prison and is taken hostage.

Guy Pierce does and excellent job as Snow, a freelance agent who is sent in to get her....the same basic plot as in Escape from New York...but that's where the similarities end....unfortunately the Internet goobers got hung up on that one fact and missed a very good, very styling, french action/SF film, while they busily trashed LOCK OUT as a copy of the 80's Carpenter film.

I don't necessarily recommend buying this DVD unless you are a true SF die hard like myself....but it is for sure worth a rent for the special effects and the excellent portrayals of the world's worst, insane convicts locked up in space--

Dick Cheney said that Mitt Romney was the only choice when it came to foreign relations---yet it seems as if he managed to insult the Brits after being in their country for about 20 minutes, doubting their ability to pull off the Olympic games? The only choice Dick? Then well fuck me....

The US stock market is now like a reservation casino---nothing but bad economic news all week yet stocks are up? Wall street brokers are like convicts betting on the cell block cockroach races.....I wouldn't let them play with monopoly money if it was up to me..........

Today, a legally blind, South Korean Olympic archer, set a new world's scoring record---kinda made my personal great accomplishment of today----managing to stay awake at work seem...well.... pretty weak......

My weekly MPG average was 50.9---

I have written much on self-sufficiency and food storage and felt that it was about time to show photographs of our climate controlled food storage shed. My Darling wife just spent a week organizing and cleaning it since food is always making it's way in and out--It is next to impossible to provide a 360 degree view but the plastic storage bins contain mostly dehydrated foods and the cabinets barely visible to the right are full of long term foodstuffs as well.
My JoJo has been reorganizing to provide space for this summers canning.

Below is the result of a short walk again through the garden just picking what came to the eye..

The Zeppelin model has arrived via Fed-Ex all 4' of it---and prior to even opening it I have been at work for it's arrival.
It can be considered very strange when one must physically adjust one's living environment to fit a model into it---but that's what has been required with the start of the Zeppelin Model project. I re-purposed a wooden shelf which had been removed from our food storage shed to put to use for storage/display of the zeppelin in the Nerd Cave. Much adaption was required--cutting the shelf down to the right sizing for the space available.... painting since the Nerd Cave is anything but natural wood.....more black, chrome, gray and yellow....so taping, priming, and painting was required of the shelf itself--the brackets and the pole. The pole is an interesting addition--originally intended as a clothes hanger attached to this particular shelf in the shed....

I have purchased a pair of techno, battery powered, multi-position, Stanley clamp lights with the intention to attach these lights to the wooden pole at the front of the shelf for use as adjustable reading lamps when sitting on the sofa beneath the new shelf----rather than removing the pole i believe it is an excellent use factor......

Even I, my greatest critic, have to say that this project might turn out rather nicely, both for display of the Zeppelin and for general Nerd Cave occupation.
