We are killing each other within our society with continuously greater frequency.
It is not that it simply seems frequent due to increased news surveillance..
We are killing each other with increasing frequently and in larger numbers.
As rats confined in a high population, high stress environment will kill
and devour each other, so do we.
This is not the result of individuals gone wrong, but rather, repetitive evidence
of a society gone wrong. A society requiring a complete rebuild.
A rebuild in which there is value, not simply money, where there is more time
available for other humans instead of more and more time at work.
A rebuild offering any and everyone a future, a future without fear.
A future where winning the lotto is not a retirement plan.
I am disgusted at my Generation, the boomers. We had the possibility
of creating this type of future for all and we sold out--cheaply.
We kill each other because the society we created, randomly without plan,
based on greed and fear does not work.

I am amazed the difference that my hiking at work program has made in my
mental status while there...this past week was tough---filled with meetings
where we just held each other's private parts and sang
kumbiyah over our supposed greatness.
If it wasn't for my self designed hiking program i would
have projectile vomited all over our meeting room.
My next door neighbor abandoned his house this week..
Yet we are bombarded with spin that the economy is improving???
How does this work? He was a putz, but still...human putzes are the canaries
in the coal mine when it comes to the economy and the canary next door just
fell over
things are not better for people like us;
they are better for the people that feed on us.

Official projections on the upcoming summer weather conditions do not look good for the homestead. Another year of desperate drought across southern New Mexico and all of Texas.
we are attempting to adapt by protecting our gardens against this projected environment
with new methods--high walled garden boxes, lined, to retain water for as long as possible.
Protective coverings against the hot winds, and a controlled, consistent watering system.
I am running thought experiments on reusing grey water into the gardens..this will be difficult without a home structure designed for grey water reuse and difficult to set up on an experimental basis...but I am mentally attempting to design a temporary test system. I would prefer to have a grey water reuse concept available to us or in use before
the price of water rises---
for there is no mercy in capitalism.

Being so pleased with my recent purchase of a Rothco ranger Hoodie jacket I took a chance and ordered one of Rothco's combat shirts illustrated below.
This Rothco product turned out to be an excellent purchase as well and I will be ordering additional shirts today.
The combat shirt is a combination of materials, soft, moisture wicking cotton on the main body section and a durable, wind resistant material on the arms and shoulders.
Velcro cuff closures, reinforced elbows, and sleeve pockets are additional features.
These new clothing designs are based on Iraq and Afghanistan environments and are easily adapted for usage here, in my southern New Mexico home area.
I worn my OD shirt in varying circumstances and my opinion is this item is comfortable, useful and obviously, long term durable. This durability is most important to me on purchases such as this, which by stocking now, will carry me through my retirement years....

Escape and evasion has been in the forefront of my thoughts recently. Current domestic and international conditions are, without a doubt, the causation.
I carry a pocket survival kit and my edc pack daily with me into work. This daily edc pack is supplemented by a complete 3 day, walk out, large pack, containing sleeping bag, and one man tent, in the back of my vehicle.

My goal has always been to have the ability to walk away from any social disruption, or governmental control regardless of the cause, and make my way home to my wife and our secured homestead.
Americans culturally have zero refugee history. There will be a very steep learning curve on our society as domestic populations in the near future begin large, sudden, movements due to economic, natural, health or politically created disasters. Evading this type of disruption or the subsequent governmental control attempts on these movements,
is in no way an armchair survivalist fantasy, it is an absolute, personal, necessity for me.
I began to think on how long ago, almost in a different lifetime, my E & E training took place and how i need to reorganize my thoughts on this issue. Older and slower, but smarter and much better equipped, my expectations as well as my physical and mental conditioning require updating. I have slowly, slowly, begun conditioning training by walking with a loaded rucksack during breaks at work, 3 days a week and am actually pleased on the increases in my performance ---
To assist with this training process i am currently reading---
THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY by Chris Ryan.
A non-fiction biography, Chris Ryan was the British, SAS B20 team member who walked out of Iraq when the rest of the team was captured during desert storm. Chris Ryan's excellent first person account of longest on foot distance, wartime, escape and evasion has refocused me. An excellent story as well.

The only news source I use any longer is the BBC radio over my computer. American radio and broadcast news makes me projectile vomit when i am exposed to it.
This past week BBC radio did an extended report on poverty in America, and what i found extremely fascinating was their interview with a spokesman for the Heritage Foundation, a conservative American think tank with great political power.
The Heritage Foundation spin doctor tried to brush off the evidence of widespread American poverty examined by the BBC as all dopers and losers and the BBC reporter would have none of it..... She refused to accept the doctored figures he kept throwing out...it was refreshing to hear...as compared to our own culture's 3rd estate, the bought and paid for press lapdogs. I was also amazed at the complete lack of empathy for regular humans forced into poverty on the part of the Heritage Foundation's representative--although i expected it--it was still so disturbing, so awfully disturbing to hear it....
we are so lost.

How long can we keep the Imperial Scam of bringing democracy to Afghanistan up in the face of the widespread, death to America rioting this week, across this insane, supposed, conquest of ours. What i find amazing is the accepted method that news agencies cloyingly report "deaths of coalition or Nato forces" at the hands of Afghan security forces, when there is no coalition--and of course it is Americans that are killed by our allies? But it sounds better to our fat, stupid public, doesn't it?
We finally wised up about Iraq--and are now allowing them to destroy themselves---when the fuck will we just realize that the entire mid-eastern culture, led by the Afghans and the Iranians will destroy themselves while flies infect their children's eyes, while they brutalize their women,
BECAUSE THEY WANT IT THAT WAY.

Our local climatic conditions here in Southern New Mexico have become insane---radical temperature swings, a complete lack of moisture, during what is considered the rainy season of the year, and spring like conditions in February. I can only imagine the affect on the natural plant cycles and the local wildlife....We are doing what we can to face the upcoming spring and summer...which is projected to be extremely hot with daily winds of 30-40mph....We are completely enclosing our gardens in high walled boxes with integral irrigation, and thankfully we have our VW camper (see previous postings) to personally escape the coming heat, on weekends, by fleeing to the mountains 1 & 1/2 hours away? This escape is of course predicated on gasoline prices remaining somewhat affordable---which in and of itself can be wishful thinking.
I have this vision of having to wear my Shemagh and combat goggles 14 hours a day this summer...just to survive being outside...
Luckily, the Republican Party and their Right Wing Religious Taliban tells me there is nothing to worry about, according to them there is no climate change.......

Breaker Morant an outstanding film based upon real life, beautifully filmed and expertly written.
Breaker Morant tells the story of an Australian Poet and Horseman who joining the Australian Calvary during the Boer War becomes the victim of a new style of warfare, British prejudice against colonials, and governmental scapegoating on official policies.
The film produces an outstanding texture of the locale, the equipment and conditions the Boer War was fought under during the guerrilla phase.
You have to love a man who, when facing a firing squad, as his last words shouts out
"Shoot straight you army bastards."

My new Everyday carry knife. The Tom Brown Tracker 2 displayed below......

3 & 1/2 inch blade, 9 & 1/2 inches overall, with a powder coated blade, grey micarta slabs and designed to be carried horizontally on the belt in the small of the back area. One may remember this original knife from a B movie titled THE HUNTED. This particular model is smaller than the movie knife allowing for easier concealment and carriage. The history of this knife however is unimportant...I purchased this particular tool feeling that I needed a larger knife to carry on me where a firearm is prohibited.
I am not at all uncomfortable utilizing a knife as a primary defensive weapon and actually prefer being armed with a knife in many circumstances. I have until this point kept the majority of my blades length near 2.88 inches for utility use and to avoid a negative public perception.

The knife ships with a plain, Kydex sheath designed for the horizontal, small of the back carry, which i must admit when worn can hurt when sitting-- but I have discovered an aftermarket supplier of leather sheaths for this knife and I may acquire--the model displayed above to complete the carry system and make this system more comfortable.

I have felt a very strange underlying vibe in public, at work and on the commuting roadway these past weeks. The anthill is disturbed. People have been rushing, disconnected without purpose, quickly going through the motions of activity without result. Bosses are requiring greater play acting as substitutes for actual results. Could this be simply a representation of our culture as an entity at this point and time?
Burning energy without purpose or direction...pretending that role playing and protocols that have become useless are still important?
Fiddling while Rome burns ?
The recent argument resulting in a gunfight between Homeland Security bosses in an LA federal building provides evidence that my perceptions may not be mere feelings.
We are consuming our own societal tail.

New T-shirts recently purchased for my old guy weird in public collection.

We are still in the preparation stages for the coming spring. My JoJo is growing seedlings beneath the lights, and then transferring the young adults to the greenhouse when strong enough. The new protective garden boxes are complete and the next step is to fill with this year's newly created compost and soil. Although we reside in a small, semi-oasis surrounded by the desert..... each year is a battle...Last year we almost lost and it was an incredible fight against drought conditions to harvest. This year we are attempting to put to use lessons learned....we received some rain yesterday and today...and any rain at all here is banked against the coming spring and summer.
A bad sign I feel, is the complete lack of visible wildlife on my daily commute to work....in previous years i would often observe antelope, coyotes, roadrunners....this fall and winter there has been nothing....i am worried that last year's drought killed off or drove away everything wild that surrounds us.

I recently ordered and received a Humvee digital watch available on Amazon. A drop in pricing on this watch to the $25.00 range and excellent reviews from field usage in Afghanistan prompted this purchase..and I have to sing it's praises...the nylon/velcro band alone is worth the price but the watch itself is just excellent. Big numbers, large viewing area, alarms, count down timer and easily understood controls has placed this watch on my wrist all week...and it ranks out as one of my favorite digital watches---regardless of its low price---

I started my walking with a loaded pack at work...as mentioned previously I am employed at a large facility...which has ample area, roadways and undeveloped areas which are excellent for this time of activity....I hate to exercise by orders (had enough of that early in life) and cannot stand exercise that has no relationship to the real world. I see absolutely no need for those Spartan movie Abs at 60 years old.
Hiking, with a pack on is appropriate for me, with the goal of recovering my distance and weight endurance. I intend to increase both pack weight, from the present 30 lbs. and distance covered over time. This is a simple process requiring me only to throw my everyday carry backpack on, buckle up and set out walking. No gym, no gym stink, no equipment necessary other than what i have with me everyday.....the most difficult element is actually taking time during the workday to make this happen...but i intend to continue and as with all things the toughest part is getting started.....

Favorite films include:
The Boondock Saints.
An independent film that grossed only $30,000 dollars in theaters but went onto earn 50 million via DVD rentals and purchases. So much for critics eh? Closest thing to Irish superhero's, my favorite part in the film is where the brothers throw hands on each other in an air vent over why Charles Bronson carries rope in Action Movies.
If you haven't seen this you need to.
