Penance, and the film IRON SKY are featured but our little world has had much completed.

I'm on my last few days of leave and working on the few remaining projects.

I am pleased with what i have accomplished.

This time has been so productive both individually and for the homestead.

There is a nearby gun show this coming Saturday and prowling the tables is my

reward for completing a large tasking list and preparing for the spring.

Monday it's back to work and that reality.

These days tho have been excellent.

The right hand and wrist was done yesterday--4 hours. These are actual photo's on my return. The work is bleeding still---it may be the application to a different arm, the position on the arm or design causing the bleeding---this one may take time to heal and i am glad i still have 4 days before returning to work---No matter the discomfort, the pain and bleeding is an integral part of this process to me--- My artist mentioned in just in passing the other day that "You sit well" implying that while undergoing the process I managed to control my physical responses to the technique. This was tremendously important to me since the control of the pain response, the recovery pain, bleeding and the permanence are elements I consider my penance.

My tendency to find and follow obscure independent Science Fiction films has it ups and downs--the ups represented by OUTLANDER--excellent--the downs represented by HUNTER PREY--sucked---but:

IRON SKY

Is an independent SF film which I have been following the production of for some time, but I have not written of it here on Tesla's Laptop until I was sure that it would be completed. Iron Sky is due to be released to theaters in Europe sometime within the next month. An American release to theaters is unknown at this time and this film may require me to track down a DVD and purchase blind. Iron Sky however is way too cool of a premise to my little brain, not to be excited about or to buy outright based on pure hope.

IRON SKY's plot premise is that during WW2 the Nazi's built a secret facility in Antarctica which they used to intensely develop technology. When Germany fell--they subsequently used this technology and base as a staging point to occupy the moon, rebuild their society and war machine and then attack the earth in 2018.

Now is this a plot line or what ? ...apparently all the UFO sightings, crop circles and alien abductions since WW2 have been Nazi reconnaissance missions from moon bases in preparation for their resumption of WW2 with a new attack.

The visuals and textures offered as examples of the film on the net are purely outstanding--extremely dieselpunk in styling and the Nazi moon bases appear as if they were designed by Albert Speer...I must find this film on DVD when I can---even if it turns out to suck, I have to have it in my SF film library. I'll advise.

Controlling my own life, time and pace of action apparently results in blogs of a smaller size but more numerous...I will be back to the normal pace upon return to work on the 30th...for good or bad is for you to decide...

Today is an interesting day, a no going back day...not to over-exaggerate... Morpheus is offering me either the red or the blue pill. This afternoon I go in for my right hand/wrist tribal tattoo. This work today, will, change everything, for today's work will always be visible....never hidden. The work on my left forearm begins behind the wrist, long sleeves can cover the tribal there.

Until today, I could if i wished, disappear into the surrounding crowd of salarymen.

I designed the work on my right side to start at the palm side of the hand working over the wrist to the forearm.

It can never be hidden....therefore, the true, I, can no longer can be hidden after today.

No more a battery......

My eight dollar pedometer arrived and it is actually a remarkable little instrument--I remembered my stride length from long ago adventures--but in programing the Pedometer i double checked it and I'm glad I did--growing older has reduced my individual stride average--I supposed that's reasonable since many things are shrinking and reducing with age-------

but really now? ----

The wire frame commercial can (soup can size) wire racks, I ordered, are also in and the assembly, placement and stocking of these two racks with the 144 cans they hold, combined, will be an excellent job for me tomorrow while I am recovering from tattooing today. I am pleased to have finally obtained these racks and to stop the consistent can shifting, due to use and then resupply, of these daily used cans in the food storage area

I also received my Rothco Ranger Hoodie Jacket and it is magnificent--absolutely magnificent!

Bravo to a company that still knows how to build and produce value at a reasonable cost... A really well thought out design---everything from the pockets to the wrist closures are perfect...did i mention pockets? ---- There are a ton of pockets including interior soft pockets for sunglasses/goggles that are so important here in Southern New Mexico, pockets for everything so many that this jacket is almost a day pack within itself..the collar of the jacket (which contains a hood) was not designed for the, now extreme length, pony tailed person like myself --- but I'll gladly work through this one small personal problem to put this jacket to use. The Coyote Brown color appeals to me and I am actually happy that I violated my black only jacket protocol to go with this color--it may sound stupid but I find myself suddenly happy that the windy and cold season in now on us to put this jacket to good use....I am very, very happy with this purchase.

My Ranger Hoodie has Velcro squares on both upper arms for the attachment of unit designator patches...and since I have been a free agent for a long, long time I had to buy a patch for one sleeve displayed below:

I have rested and resupplied during this first week of my leave from work...I have successfully completed a large quantity of work at the homestead...and during this second week I am completing personal projects.

Like an Italian Cruise ship Captain I am feeling pretty good about myself and the status of the homestead...just enjoying the lights on the shore as we stately flow past.

What if we all just did not vote?

For Christ sakes we have nothing else left to show our displeasure with our elected oppressors in the United States---We have tried everything----including electing a Brother as President and he fucking turned out to be a Republican!

I'm not talking about having only 30% of the eligible voters turn out for an election---this happens all the time and the winners of an election like that claim a victory by landslide?

I am talking about 85-95% of eligible voters in the US not showing up for the next Presidential election. A basic--- GET FUCKED-- signal. What would be the difference? Failure to receive representation---Pleeeease. These guys only represent their fellow members of the Skull and Bones Society, they would wear our skins without hesitation if it was cold outside.....This concept came to me during a thought experiment of how well votes of no confidence in Europe work?...We in the United States do not have the ability to signal displeasure with our corrupt, corporate owned system, officially, but to not vote for anyone is something we can still do--stop voting for the least disagreeable of the vile, corporate sponsored candidates who after being elected through default will claim to represent the American People--just don't vote for these guys who think rolling up the sleeves on their hundred dollar shirts makes them a man of the people..and stop believing the propaganda of how your vote counts for so much---your vote counts for shit...by 90% of us NOT VOTING your NO voice may actually count for something...the problem is getting 90% of Americans behind anything due to the mental world we all inhabit now---but not doing anything is easy for us----just stay home on the couch on election day---staying on the couch is the only thing we are good at anymore....

IT'S SIMPLE

The license plate motto for my state, New Mexico, should say "Land of Layering" rather than "Land of Enchantment". During January through March temperature changes of 50 degrees during the day in either direction are the norm.

Preparing for a full work day in this climate upon awaking in the morning is challenging to say the least. You wear too little and freeze your ass off---or suffer heat prostration from wearing too much. I just ordered the above Rothco "Special OPs Tactical Soft Shell Jacket"--- the special ops title derives in that this is a design copy of what has become known as a "Ranger Hoodie" which has seen use in the middle east's wildly varied, daily climatic conditions. Wind and waterproof with underarm vents and fleece lined to pull moisture away from the body----I am planning on putting this item to daily use for the next 4 months...I somehow escaped my normal protocols of black colored coats only ----purchasing this item in coyote brown...a tough thing for me to do---but i could not escape my eternal demand for many,many pockets.

I have not had a great deal of luck in reading material lately...I am hoping this purchase turns that problem around for me....I have always been interested in the Boer Wars and have read quite a good deal on it---I think of it as the Steampunk war...combine that type of arena with Winston Churchill in his younger days--who was quite the Alan Quatermain type, adventurer figure and I hope this first person account will inspire my reading again---picked it up used for a pittance at any rate.

Just as a side note, did you know that the British invented Concentration Camps? First used during the Boer war, the Brits moved Boer resistance dependents in mass to wired compounds and let them starve to death...in an attempt to force the resistance to surrender.

I have been working on our VW eurovan camper...just small detail work--washing and cleaning it. The major thing I am working on is to install our solar panel charging system for the on board battery power. This has taken a bit since I am not that good with electrical and am taking my time double checking everything prior to doing---No problems so far but there is always the X factor. I decided to mount the solar panel on a tripod so that i would not have to drill into the camper roof for a permanent mounting.....drilling into a fiberglass roof usually does not turn out well....and having the solar panel on a tripod allows it to be in the sun and the camper to sit in the shade.....tomorrow i will attach (hopefully) the regulator and wiring to the battery and we should be good to go and be able to maintain power......

I go in Wednesday 01-25 for the application of my right hand and wrist/forearm art. This session will be about 3-4 hours and I am very much looking forward to getting it done.

I can't stand us any longer...the You's & me's---us---- all of us in this collective anthill we call a society....Take Mitt Romney, as an example of why I hate us----a Republican created Product, who wants to be President of the United States---a multi-millionaire, he has Caribbean bank accounts for Christ sakes and pays only 15% in taxes---because according to him "It's legal". This is an example of the type of ass wipe our society will accept as potential leadership??..The reason I can't stand us is that the people of WalMart contingent will still actually vote for him??? This is how stupid we are. He may, however, be the perfect figurehead for a country which depends on credit card spending by it's population for 60 some odd percent of the gross national product...Perfect just Perfect......

This week---I've been cleaning and organizing our food storage shed...We are so very close to a year's supply of stored food---- combining, dehydrated #10 cans and pouches, MRE's, 5 Gallon buckets of grains, and commercial canned goods. Having this large of a supply requires organization, rotation, and protection from heat-cold-and rodents. So I am pretty much always doing something in there when i am off....

Due to the amount of commercial canned goods we now have and the fact that we are using and rotating these goods constantly--we ordered (x2)- stainless steel shelf racks each of which hold 90 soup size cans. We can simply refill these racks from nearby shrink wrap flats of cans as necessary for standard consumption. Once these racks arrive next week I will re-organize the commercial canned goods shelves for this system...but after two days of work in the storage area already things are looking good.

My wife, JoJo, is the queen of horseshit right now..we unloaded a trailer full of horse shit into the compost area to work for the spring planting and she is so happy---no diamonds for this girl, it's all about manure with my darling....I disassembled our five level worm farm (the worms have been surviving the winter nicely) and filled a small wheelbarrow full of excellent black, black dirt that we'll be using that for seedlings....I rebuilt the worm farm, fed, water and set those little devils back to work. Come spring I may need to get a back of replacement worms just to get things really active in there and we release worms to the garden every year anyway.

The reason all this is viable work towards our spring time, is, that today in my part of New Mexico it's a beautiful 75 degree's today----this for us is the time of year we get work done before the heat comes in during the spring....climate change you know.....

I am rebuilding my work life for my return from leave.

I want to take control of my day to day existence there.

Getting away during a break and cooking a cup of tea from my rucksack will be excellent

but i am planning on adding an additional layer of effort on my return to work from this period of leave. I work at a very large facility, and I am planning on walking/hiking/marching the perimeter several times a week..... Me being me...... i needed therefore to resupply beyond tea making equipment---I will make no excuses for this resupply process---it is essential for me.

To record my distance and hopefully my improvement week by week I ordered a pedometer--now incredibly cheap from China of course...

I remember when Pedometers were expensive scientific instruments used by 19th century explorers to create maps and record distance in their journals---

I also ordered, on close-out, a civilian style day pack from Marmot... for my mental state walking for exercise is just not enough....

I want to be able to cover ground again with a loaded rucksack the way I used to do....so my walking will include a loaded pack. My plan is to march the facility perimeter and then find a quiet spot to refresh with a cup of tea....I hope i can make this happen...I am actually looking forward to going back to work to try this entire process.

My first week of leave and i am delighted....i am knee deep in marking off jobs on the TO DO list...cleaning, organizing...maintaining the vehicles....doing art, blogging, and being free....I have already accomplished much and take joy in the fact that there is more to do....I am spending a bit of money resupplying and purchasing equipment for the coming spring and summer but it is necessary...

A comedy centering on two hillbillies who wouldn't hurt a fly, who can barely fish because it hurts them....being attacked in the woods by a group of college students on vacation---because the college kids think the two hillbillies are something out the hills have eyes kinda thing....I know it sounds strange and it is--but it works...this is a very funny movie once it gets started...and smart...taking on the whole Hollywood hillbilly slasher genre.... i can't explain this little gem of a movie well enough, you just have to see it and laugh your ass off---it's on Netflicks streaming at the moment.....

Of course it's Canadian, it's funny and SMART!

I have managed to live up to one of my 2012 resolutions--to do more art. I am less a sketcher..than i am an overly involved doodler i suppose---but whatever i am i am back doing stuff---some good, of course some lousy----with the recent opportunity of time, i cleaned my ink technical pens and my fountain pens today..ordered a dozen 5x7 canvas plates and treated myself to to 5"by 7" wooden artist travel box illustrated below.

I can carry a Moleskine notebook & multiple pencils/pens within---but it will also carry my travel watercolor set and a 5x7 canvas plate to work on in the lid. The entire box will fit nicely in my daily rucksack I take to work.......I've had a small watercolor kit for some time but no methodology to use it---perhaps this will help create art when i feel like it either around the house or on the go......it felt REALLY good to clean my art equipment--and resupply...it's been something i have wanted to do for a long time...and it feels good to being do art just for the sake of doing it again....

Our emergency food storage is nearing a true one year supply. I have tried to mix sources---commercial dehydrated both pouch and #10 cans---MRE's---bulk grains--and corporate canned goods. The purchase this month was six cans of Spam and Cheese for $15.00. A bit over $2.00 per can-- the cheese element was important--I do have a half a case of just canned cheese, but variety items such as this spam experiment are essential if one is living off stored supplies just to maintain appetites. A can of Spam and cheese will also fit fine in a BDU pant pocket and can be eaten cold. Excellent as a stretcher with whatever you may have been able to obtain in trade or gathering as well....Spam is there nothing it can't do??

Required new boots for work--and I purchased Palladium, black canvas high top boots...I have a pair of OD green in canvas high top, but this color is more for off-work time---so I am investing in a new pair in black and 1/2 of a size larger since my OD's are the tiniest bit small...Palladium was the official boot of the French Foreign Legion after World War, and the canvas models have remained unchanged since 1948...I like that very, very much....

I was working on the compost pile and cleaning the side driveway meanwhile my wife, JoJo, was saving us money and expanding the independence of the homestead...apparently in our area of New Mexico, a gallon of standard Tide detergent is now $24.00---hard to believe isn't it?---My wife, found a do it yourself recipe and built our own liquid laundry detergent......... a gallon, for less than a dollar and re-filled and re-purposed two empty, tide, plastic, dispenser jugs with her creation at the same time. As society consumes itself through greed we must become more and more capable of self-creating replacements for every day items. Strange also how things work out----my military surplus clothing requires no fancy detergents to wash so one logical event feeds or assists another.... elements that one can invest in to resist corporate greed, help each other develop systems against that same corporate usury.

Sears, Wonder Bread (maker of Twinkies and Ding Dongs) and Kodak are all going bankrupt--they are at one stage of the process or the other...WTF kind of nation are we--when we are not even making fucking Ding Dongs anymore??---yet the spin tries to tell us that the economy is getting better? Hard to grow Ding Dongs in the garden---and there goes my retirement goal of smoking weed and eating Ding Dongs on the front porch all day long.......where will we all wind up?

I sit and try to make sense of things but in reality---what's the use? Our society is flailing about like a fish on the bank hoping someone will take kindness on us and kick us back in the water.....but that's not going to happen....... Our public policy arena is the theater of the absurd-----we are owned by corporations who are in the final stages of looting the corpse prior to moving elsewhere...the corporations will eventually find that the only thing left to profit from with Americans is to farm out organs, selling them to the 1%....Matrix batteries....for celebrities.

My Swiss army surplus flask canteen and cup are in and they are PERFECT--for my upcoming tea brewing at work concept...the canteen is even enameled on the inside. The Swiss military, you have to love them for their OCD tendencies. I am just going to disinfect with bleach and when i return to work start my tea time at work project.

The two books I reported ordering in the last post are being read--neither of them a huge winner--disappointed very much in the PICT------ nothing there for me, a mistake.

The garden is under physical construction right now---we are boxing in all of the beds this year--with larger walls and dividers to protect against both the wind and the increasing probability of drought again this coming year...with climate change you have to do all you can to minimize damage and maximize outcome......

...over these two weeks I am also going to have the last tattoo of this winter applied to my right wrist and hand as a start on my right arm sleeve....

I have to repeat for any new readers,(although I doubt there are any) my Otaku use of Military Surplus Clothing... there is no better clothing in the world for matching my personal weirdness, my demand for practical clothing...and of course price...My latest new stuff for Mil Surplus clothing are displayed above and below. The photo above shows an item I have long been searching for. The Soviet Union was the leader in the development of computer designed camouflage with the first designs emanating from their military. The above NEW, never issued Russian camouflage shirt in forest green with yellow cube pattern, displays both this computer block camouflage design and the all the elements i require most in a shirt---lots and lots of pockets and reinforcements to stress points....

The second item in my recent search and obtain process is the above illustrated, Italian Army V neck sweater in Olive Drab. Military sweaters are just excellent, tough, easy to maintain, warm and outstanding for use here in New Mexico---this state that requires layering ..cold in the mornings and warm by noon. Even tho we are working under austerity planning, the problem with Military Surplus is that when it is available, especially in your size, you must buy it...otherwise you will never see it again. I had to pull the trigger on buying these items...otherwise they would be gone forever....These are two excellent items that i look forward to wearing and using for a long, long time.....

A week of feeling worn, but happy nonetheless....working with my artist on my right hand/forearm tat...to be applied the third week of this month. The last Tat work until next fall/winter----Work is well just work....reading, finally doing a bit of art sketching again....

I have a new project that i am working on to combine every day carry equipment and escape from the mindless confines of the daily work environment....I have ordered the below items: a surplus Swiss army flask canteen with nesting canteen cup...and an Esbit pocket stove with solid fuel tabs. My plan is to make up a small stuff sack to carry these items as well as a stock of teabags in my Maxpedition falcon backpack.

During the crippling, never ending afternoons at work, my plan is to grab up my backpack, go outside, find a restful spot, and being self contained...cook up and enjoy a cuppa tea and a cigarette......a brew up...as our British cousins would say.

An attempt to maintain sanity, get away from the idiocy surrounding me and have a creative moment of peace and quiet...using my edc equipment...that's my plan at any rate....I'll let you know how it works out when all the gear arrives and I get a chance to test it.

My recent book orders, non-fiction above and fiction below...I seem to be on a Roman Legion and Roman Britain jones in reading at the moment.....I'll advise on these books when read.

I find it completely without surprise that LA suffers multiple random acts of Arson while elsewhere... a national park ranger is killed by a PTSD ex-solider...a 15 year old shot by police in school...... 4 people--two of them, Naval Aviators, involved in murder/suicide---one family killer dressed as Santa Claus.......

Our society is being pressure cooked from all sides without possible solutions...under the economic and societal conditions we currently face there is a great description of American societal random violence---the Japanese will close the window and kill themselves as compared to Americans, who open the window and kill everyone else.....it is just genetic with us...we are a society of individualistic violence---violence against ourselves, families and the innocent surrounding us without result. There will be more of it...... We somehow as a culture lack the DNA to put this intense feeling of individual violence, rage or frustration to use against the actual problems that we face....

We Americans turn our personal violence against each other which means nothing...we are a society of cannibals feeding off those like ourselves, those in identical situations....

An outstanding DVD night candidate is THE TRACKER. A beautiful period film set in 1903 New Zealand involves a defeated Boer Commando immigrant hired to track a Maori sailor suspected of murder...the scenery and photography is breathtaking-----the texture of the film is totally 1903---the weapons, clothing and equipment perfectly selected for the time frame...and Ray Winstone is completely believable as a superbly capable, but emotionally damaged, ex-Boer commando, used to living off the land from his single shoulder bag and his rifle...give this little jewel of a film a chance...pizza, a blanket on the couch and enjoy this film.

In English, for the most part we really do not have complex meaning words such as these...I wish we did...

I placed my order for 2012's pens and notebooks...allied with the plan of noting life--and additional rough sketching ...I ordered two, square shaped, MoleSkin roller ball, black ink pens and two refills--the pens I been enjoying using for writing and sketching are on their last legs and I have been forced to attempt to find a replacement--- instead of my standard order of MoleSkin 3x5 notebooks I ordered a Zequenz pocket notebook as a test replacement...for this year...I can't exist without multiple notebooks around me...I am always scribbling ideas, concepts or little things i want to remember within them... I have an entire carton packed with previous year's pocket notebooks full of notes, observations and concepts...sometimes this OCD practice actually pays off....

What is going to happen to us and what is going to be done about our problems? Much and nothing. There will be more protests--groups will form and dissolve--and accomplish nothing....the two week darling of the press, the false leader will appear--and disappear with greater and greater frequency.

The Right wing, Republican, Religious fanatic Taliban of our country will continue their search for a cult leader who meets all their bizarre parameters and false beliefs. The formal Government will stumble from one emergency to another without solutions, new scapegoats will be named, the unknown enemy amongst us will become the new target for fear mongering..and politicians will enrich themselves and delay any and everything smelling of solutions.

For in confusion there is profit.....

The 99% will continue to hope their jobs, investments, retirements and promised future come back to them as in the good old days--which is an impossibility----unemployment has to run out sometime, leading to that new housing development under the bridge---None will care as long as it doesn't happen to them and those working will accept the larger and larger shit sandwich of no benefits, urine tests, longer hours=lower pay and the boot of the man on their neck constantly threatening replacement or closure of the workplace to provide stock dividends to the overlords of the 1%.

Nothing will change---no one will appear to lead us from this morass of stupidity and greed that has become our culture...there are no solutions. The time for action and solutions was long ago...it is time now to ride this endless loop of incapability, stupidity, and sound bite intelligence to the end....every piece of the future that is coming will have a bit less and then less and then less until we wake up with nothing.

There is a gun show in a nearby town the end of January. I am planning on attending and thoughts of what i desire and what i hope I can obtain there swirl through my thoughts. I never desire the things that others do--standard firearms---Glocks and such....I attend gun shows searching for things only I desire and never find...When we attend this show at the end of the month I will be searching vainly, I am sure for a Star Model D series, single action, .380 caliber Pistol...manufactured over 30 years ago the Star model D is a very small frame, single action, Pony or Pocket pistol. You'd never actually carry this weapon in a pants pocket, it's just a term denoting it's small size

Illustrated below you can see the difference between a full size pistol, a colt 1911a1 and beneath it a star Model D. The model D is an excellent example of a last generation personal protection pistol---and when i attend gun shows i search all the dealers tables but have yet to find one.

I have also desired a French, caliber 7.5x54 caliber, MAS 1936/1939 military surplus bolt action rifle, and hope against hope to find one at a gun show someday. They are rare apparently in my area---no demand I am sure.

The Mas 1936 was the last bolt action rifle accepted and adopted by any of the worlds armies. Semi-automatic rifles became the norm even during the issue period of the MAS. Ah! the French you just have to love them. Durable, dependable, with a 5 shot magazine, firing a large caliber round with no manual safety, the MAS 36 was the end of the trail for the 5 shot, bolt military weapon. Utilized by the French in Algeria, Vietnam, Africa and for many of the post war years this rifle is a curiosity now---The type of curiosity that fits my mentality of never desiring anything easy to obtain or that anyone else would ever want---i own none of the new plastic pistols or black rifles--i have no desire for them...but a MAS 36 I desire...Ammo for these rifles is somewhat rare but available from factories in the former Yugoslavia...at a bit less than a dollar a round.

This is not a rifle that fires promiscuously so massive amounts of ammunition on hand is immaterial..this is a make each round count rifle....500 rounds in the homesteading stock would last a lifetime.

There is something appealing and old world about slinging a leather bandoleer of full caliber rifle munition across your body, picking up one's bolt rifle to defend the homestead. In my heart I know that when I walk in the door of this upcoming small gun show--there will be no Star Model D or Mas 1936/1939 waiting there for me, nor bandoleer. Just row after row of modern, high capacity assault rifles, and large magazine plastic pistols, row after row.....what a shame....what a loss...but until I leave that show the end of this month I can dream.

I have been doing very good with the new austerity measures...that is until I found this Boker Gnome knife on sale...I had been wanting one of these small, straight blade knifes for quite awhile but i could never justify the required price...until...I found one at half off. Although designed as a neck knife I may modify the standard sheath or build a new sheath from Kydex for belt carry which is what i prefer....austerity vs. sale and sale wins eh? At least impulse was not involved....I also ordered a kydex paddle holster for my makarov pistol...this was a need and not a want item...

I had considered building a holster for the Makarov---but building your own pistol holster is somewhat like building your own space capsule----there are many possibilities for tragedy involved.....

Snow and rain this week, big snow and good rain in Southeastern New Mexico--water is so important to us here we are dancing for joy...this coming summer may not have the rabid drought conditions we fought so hard in the garden last summer....As I write this we are pretty well snowed in 12/24..and happy for it. I have a list of small inside jobs for this weekend...and the list includes many naps.

JoJo and I don't do Christmas---or any other commercial holiday hiding behind corporate religion. The buy-buy-buy holiday machine gets not a dime from us. Halloween and giving out candy to children is the only Corporate Festivus we do..and that's to enjoy the children getting the candy and for no other reason....I've given up on the concept of peace and goodwill to everyone one as a corporate motto to inspire Shopping Mall soldiers---because in our society it is just words, and words to us now have no meaning. We are snowed in, huddled up reading and computing and I have an extra day off---this is fine enough by us. Good Luck to the rest of you.

My most recent book orders are pictured--a post cyberpunk novel "Blueprints of the Afterlife" by Ryan Boudinot--and "The Wall, Rome's Greatest Frontier" By Alistair Moffat. I just ordered these and will have to advise on them in a later post. I am always on the search for any Cyberpunk or Post-Cyberpunk author/novel---this is the SF category which I am addicted to.....Blueprints for me is an ongoing hope for a new William Gibson----Roman Britain's war against the Outlanders, the Irish, the Picts, whatever they are called by whichever authority happens to be writing on them--is also one of my bizarre specialist interests...this interest has been heightened lately due to my tattoo design/application process...so the wall is a book that i am tremendously interested in reading. Time to huddle up on the couch with a dog or two and read an afternoon away--with the occasional doze of course.

What is there to say after the death of nearly 5,000, and who knows how many crippled and mentally destroyed young people...unknown thousands of Iraqi's dead....and the loss of our national fortune....the Bush--Cheney--Powell--Rice great lie war is finally over.

As of this writing ( 12-24-11) my forearm tat has been healing for 14 days now---I've got to advise that this one is a bitch. It may be the different position on the body--more sensitive--the greater work involved since this tat is extensive--but my whole forearm is slightly red at this point but starting to feel semi-normal....I am taking into consideration the fact that I can see the healing process this time as compared to it being hidden from instant viewing the last time.....this is going to take a bit to recover from--I'm sure of it. I still have no regrets and am planning the next work to have done once this arm heals completely.

Art and everyday carry have an overlap---there are lots of on the move sketchers out there, displayed on FLICKR--but I found a rare combination displayed below. Six, small, sketch pencils an eraser, and a sketch pad all sized to fit within a CD case, for $5.00. This way I can have the ability to create with me anytime---I have been pushing myself to draw and sketch again--i have somehow lost my way in doing this on a routine basis.. Out of touch with the world this week---sick, retreating, sleeping....body and brain feeling like a rusted machine, grinding parts when required to move.....No excuses...I am physically sick and do feel overwhelmingly tired....hopefully I will bounce back this weekend.

With the conclusion of a year's debate we have decided to add chickens this spring to our urban homestead....eggs and compost are the desire, not meat....I am reading up on the how to aspects of this project and planning the coop and fencing for an area..This will be an interesting new endeavor for us---taking the homestead and our independence to a new level. Neither JoJo nor I have a background dealing with animals like this so it should be interesting...sort of like a Rocky Balboa keeps chickens kinda thing....we're going to try it no matter what this spring.....

We are all the resistance...every one of us is a possible solider in the fight to change the death spiral that our society is in. The question is what can I as an individual do to change anything? What can I do, when i cannot or am unable to man the barricades against corporate greed and governmental corruption in a formal way?

Off work today, this Monday--(see tattoo below)-----cold, dark and thankfully raining here in my part of New Mexico---the perfect day to produce a second blog of the week....the dogs are sleeping the morning away and soon i will join them for a nap.....coffee, cigarettes and planning for the spring are the orders of the day here at the homestead. I will organize my equipment for work tomorrow later this afternoon...work on my umpc's.....change over to a smaller carry bag for this coming short work week and generally sloth. It is too dark, rainy,cold and hurting to think of much that does not allow for huddling under a blanket on the couch....

I have had an East German manufactured--Soviet designed 9x18 Makarov pistol for years....I obtained this pistol prior to the fall. The East German manufactured varieties of this pistol are considered the best of all that have been manufactured and it is truly machined like a fine, older mechanical watch. I have never worked out a carry protocol for this pistol and am in the process of doing so...holsters are limited...so I may decide to design & manufacture my own out of Kydex, which i have in stock, rather than purchasing one---an excellent alternative plan in alignment with our austerity concept....I have to make myself start carrying full time again while healing up (see tattoo below)

On Sunday 12-11 it took 6 and 1/2 hours to apply my second tattoo shown above. This was twice the time i spent undergoing the procedure for my left upper arm. I took today off of work which appears to have been a smart move since my left forearm feels like ground meat this morning. This time the pain and blood was more extensive both during and after the procedure. Pain and blood are part of this for me...not that i am masochistic----not at all........

This design worked out perfectly, I believe--I only wished to do this process on myself in Black, graphic, tribal...but i had no desire to steal from other cultures....cultures to which i had no ties...that would be bullshit...so i have been forced to create my own culture, my own tribe...

I plan on another piece which will connect my upper and lower left arm...I have to rest for a period of time...there will be a total of over 3-4 months planning--doing---and especially healing for just these two pieces and I need to recover, heal completely and plan the next step...I am very internally pleased to have accomplished this----now i just have to heal myself----

I stagger about trying desperately to make sense of the new normal, beset on all sides by spin doctors of the news, insane candidates for leadership positions, random shooters, and a complete lack of societal purpose. We apparently know not where to go. Paranoia strikes me deeply this week.

There is nothing out there for me to grasp onto...nothing intelligent or understandable left in this quagmire of self destruction we call America. The middle class is destroyed...our government is worthless..our financial systems more concerned with what happens in Europe than what happens outside their front doors...These are dangerous times--- The thought experiment i return to time and time again to find peace is our homestead. As the world outside is increasingly bizarre and confusing---I want organization and security within our walls and fences....I completely understand why third world houses have thick, blank walls facing the streets to protect the living within. There is no reason or viable life out there--so we must create art and life within our walls for there is nothing left for people like JoJo and I out there. Nothing of which we wish to be part of. There is only in here. This winter as we plan for the spring's gardens, create designs for adding chickens in the spring to the urban homestead...and work on water storage------ I find my thoughts reverting constantly to the fact that we must turn within more than we have, we must organize, create, plant, and secure ourselves here within the walls our homesteading outpost.

Cowboys and Aliens was the DVD of this past week---this film could have been done very badly---but instead it is really enjoyable, well made and entertaining..No deep Science Fiction meanings in this film--- other than answering the question we have all thought at one time or another, "what would have happened if aliens tried to pull that probing shit on Cowboys in the old west"

Daniel Craig is excellent as the silent hero...surrounded by the usual cast of western movie town characters--- Preacher, barkeep, sheriff and Harrison Ford as the local cattle baron...Cowboys and Aliens is absolutely worth a wintertime, cover up on the couch with a hamburger, movie night.

Am i the only person who considers this merely a cause and effect situation. Are these individuals and institutions so removed from actual existence that they believe no mob will come for them? History is filled with non-responsive ruling units being stood against the wall. Answering my own question it must be yes----yes, they think they are immune, can be the only explanation.

On 12/11 I go in for 5 & 1/2 hrs of work to finish my left arm with a black, tribal pattern from my elbow to wrist...the previous piece, on my upper arm was 3 hours and this piece will be more complex and will require greater mental discipline from me to get through. I know what to expect this time which should be an advantage. After completion of this piece I am going to pause before beginning work on my right arm. One piece on the right arm should complete my body biography, my don't fuck with me warning and my penance.

I got a chance to put all my surplus bargains to work this week in extreme cold, snow and ice...I stayed toasty warm and had zero problems...German sweater, French Parka, Italian shoulder bag---I was the international military bargain boy pleased with my equipment and the results of my plan.

Our society is now so out of bounds, so lacking in reality that it increasingly hard for me to find any solid ground to use as a thought baseline. We punish the poor and reward the rich...Our leadership is incompetent....we have no basic health care nor human support services other than what the individual can pay exorbitant fees for...meanwhile we shower money on the military and paranoid institutions like DHS while neglecting any possible chance of becoming a mature, thoughtful society as compared to a palace for the elite, built on force. I have to admit that there is now no way back or no way out...it is too late...we deserve our fate created of our own stupidity.

I just received the Italian and Hungarian military surplus shoulder bags mentioned in my previous blog.

It is snowing here this Saturday and today's project is to work on applying my everyday carry equipment to these bags and select one to try out Monday at work. On first inspection the Italian bag, although used, is still very serviceable and is the larger of the two as well as the more interesting. It will be the first I try to put to use. If things work out I will provide photo's of the bag(s) and the contents.....I also need to gear up for predicted snow and rain next week....of course this to me is fun. Strange eh?

We've been discussing for a long time the inclusion of chickens here at our 90'x120' urban homestead---however something new has arisen causing my wife, JoJo to begin research anew--the miniature cow....

About the size of a Mastiff dog, discovering these miniature cows has caused us to pause in the chicken research and switch to thinking of maybe owning a miniature milk cow for--- cheese--milk to trade and of course the all important natural compost....being city pukes we know nothing about cows no matter what their size--- but we are scouring sources to determine if a miniature cow is a possibility for us? They run about $2,000 and can live for up to 15 years....they are bred to feed on natural feed grass and therefore no supply of feed grain is demanded...I am sort of unsure at this point but am open to the concept---when societies fall owning a cow, no matter what size, is an incredible asset....I imagine the city would pull it's lip up over it's head tho---that is if they find out about it or until they fall apart and then it doesn't matter.

This week the Federal Reserve Bank traded US dollars to the European Bank in exchange for Euro's---Yes the same Euro currency that practically all sources advise is doomed.....and can fail within ten days from this posting.The British Government has advised their banks to prepare for disruption from the collapse of the Euro.

Our financial overlord geniuses did this to save their brother bankers overseas, even if it is for only a very short time...You see--the brotherhood of the 1% is the important thing---the continuation of wealth and power by any means necessary to those in their class, be they European or American--- nothing else matters to them----like royalty of old they are interconnected by breeding and class unfortunately the hemophilia thing did not pan out for them meanwhile John McCain in the US Senate is attempting to pass legislation allow for Military detention of American Citizens without application of protection of the law and Homeland Security announces that the "Lone Wolf Terrorist" in now the primary threat for the US, which of course equates to anyone who disagrees with any current US policy.

What we are seeing is random, fearful steps being taken attempting to protect the elite by any means necessary---every possible lifeline is being thrown in any possible direction...but only to each other within the elite class. The rest of us are on our own.....

As a final note, a law to allow for the slaughter of horses and allowing horse meat to be utilized for human consumption in the United States has passed....meanwhile we are laying off meat and health inspectors both local and federal---I am sure however that the Republican businessmen that pushed this law into effect will police themselves---what could possibly go wrong with this and why suddenly do they want us to be able to eat horse? Next comes Soylent Green----

Winter has shown up now here in southern New Mexico...it appeared this weekend with temperatures in the low 20's overnight...once again all the plants are brown and dead or sleeping till spring...we are planning our gardens with a new concept in irrigation for the spring---the droughts and increases in temperatures here makes planning the watering system to be built into the gardens prior to spring, of utmost importance...

Throughout the winter I try to focus and work on small things, personal things. There are good things about the winter tho---like huddling up on the couch with JoJo and our Boston Terriers watching movies in the dark afternoons.....Putting my military surplus clothing/equipment to real work against the weather and being warm, comfortable and organized because of thinking out problems in advance....the winter for sure makes you appreciate the spring and green when it returns....

I have been doing remarkably better mentally at work---for reasons unknown to me---it may be the tattoo decision the mental freedom it has provided---it may be that fewer and fewer people think that their particular party or religious group has the solution to our overwhelming problems and have ceased their personal propaganda attempts against me-- It has become easier to survive the stupid these past few weeks which is quite a change for me..........

Vehicles--i am going to attempt to clean and organize vehicles this week if the weather allows--the winter is a bitch---I need to wash and organize both the Prius and the VW camper---the Prius is averaging 50.7 on a daily basis and of course is running like a clock---the VW is winterized for the drop in temperatures here to the low low 20's....the vehicles need a good cleaning/organizing due to the winter weather.....

This Wednesday I go in for the first consultation for my left forearm tribal tattoo----------------- the big, visible one--------you first work on a design with the artist---i know what i want it is merely a matter of communicating...then there is a second consultation to check that what she has designed to judge if it meets your approval before the third appointment, the actual application...............so I am about a month away from the first application session on the visible forearm tribal.

I'll be working through all the upcoming, normal people, holidays---saving my leave for late January or early February when I'll take 2 weeks off to do some work around the homestead towards the spring----then I'll start saving leave again to go camping with JoJo in the V-dub during the summer. We have to design an auto watering system for the garden and install it when we build the gardens in the spring if we wish to leave on summer weekends for camping in the mountains......

Winter is here and an old man's thoughts turn to ACTION FIGURES ?

Mine do anyway--it has been quite a while since i have added to my meager action figure collection...and prowling the net the other day I discovered the Robot from the 1998 film remake of the Television series----LOST IN SPACE....

The remake of lost in space was profoundly beaten up by the critics...but there were several excellent items of notice in the film production, design and special effects---one item of note was the "instant on" combat armor worn by the major West character which would be tremendously excellent to have available in real life--feel threatened and instantly incased in armor against the world--- the new film also put forth a newly designed combat robot....which of course would also be the ultimate real life accessory item so useful for pulling the heads off of surly DMV clerks and so forth...our society would actually be polite if we all were followed about by our own individual combat robot.....

I ordered the above illustrated Robot figure action figure from the Lost in Space Film for 1/3 of the original price. It is new in the box and may be one of the last out there affordable by cretins like myself or possibly just the last one---it's shipping weight is 19.8 lbs. !! but i have no true idea of the size since there is zero information available about this figure...I'll find out when it arrives...this item fulfills both my action figure and robot addiction all in one fell swoop for the winter...you really can't ask for more----i am spending the time prior to delivery picking out a display spot in the nerd cave....

A week of laughing----

Laughing at the bizarre hope by the commercial market place, that our consumers will push themselves deeper into debt and destruction during the upcoming holidays to bring about profit.....Laughing at the Washington 1% pretending to lead but only desiring, like African heads of State, to continue their soul sucking graft. Going into work tomorrow with the concept of completely fucking off since everyone else is gone.

Each bag was extremely low cost, and will be hopefully like all military surplus, sturdy and practical....The real problem is me---I have to decide and accept limitations as to what EDC equipment can be carried as absolutely necessary and what i use/need on a daily basis. The reduction in the physical size of my computing equipment now allows for the carry of a smaller, shoulder bag as compared to a backpack and i need to mentally follow suit...but in our new normal 3rd world life in the United States, the ability to escape and evade to return home becomes more and more necessary it is tough for me to develop a protocol on this issue-----i'll advise on how these bags work out.

Do I feel different or am i different?---yes is the honest answer---I feel as if i have passed some type of initiation that i really do not understand yet....a test i designed and then passed as the singular member of my very peculiar tribe.....having a design on you--- be it tattoo's or warpaint makes the wearer feel strangely powerful---having the ability, even if it is hidden to display plumage, for lack of a better term...something that a mere uniform cannot provide---I now understand why cultures tattoo themselves to expose before their enemies their personal histories and make sure their enemies know exactly who they are fighting before they begin---there is suddenly some primal urge you get when pissed off to pull off your shirt and display your markings prior to fighting.......it is who i am.

In honor of the film's anniversary i purchased a book containing the complete graphic novels of Dave Stephens...who was responsible for inspiring the movie and reinventing a time, place, and the character of the Rocketeer in his graphic novels----- Mr. Stephens i understand, unfortunately died very young...but he left a history of tremendous art based on the 1930's--1940's styling..it's my day after thanksgiving, work is deadly boring, reading material at my desk----for this year.......

This has been a rather unique week.....layoffs at work....physically very tired...next week being Thanksgiving I'll work all week so the guys with families can have the time off and I'll bank my leave for camping in the spring...This weekend will be all detail work---on computers/watches/personal equipment and on me as a human as well. I am in some sort of rebuilding mode.

This week has seen the first watch repair attempt....I used my recently received watch repair tools/kit to open a Pulsar PM7 chronograph displayed above. I had put this particular watch away when it failed within two weeks of receiving it several years ago...this Pulsar series PM7 chronograph has a combination of multiple displays--- 3 in total both digital and analog and is actually a very complex display face--- opening the case with my new case wrench, which i could never do before the arrival of the proper tools, revealed two batteries.. i had to order replacements since they were an unusual type as compared to the common, standard single watch battery. When the replacements arrived i positioned them, threaded the case back in position and tightened with the case wrench and the watch functions perfectly. I was sort of amazed...

Bloomberg in planned coordination with 20 mayors across the nation evicting OWS from their encampments has given the movement an advantage---Rather than facing the winter and possible failure--- the Occupy movement can now focus on marching on Banks and Wall Street...rather than spending that time effort on keeping warm, fed and in place.

My favorite comment was from the Oakland mayor advising that the protesters told her(?)--that they wished to be evicted to be separated from the Anarchists that had appeared in their movement. You just have to admire the BIG BIG lie as compared to the little lie....what a crock of shit.

The evictions across the nation of the Occupy movements displayed the use of Homeland Security anti-terrorism equipment against peaceful protesters. Items as sound cannons, and other military equipment provided by your government to police departments. The use of counter terrorism equipment against civilians expressing their displeasure with the banker government will be observed with greater frequency and intensity as the middle class becomes the desperate class and attempts to have their voices heard, their needs met, and are, of course, rejected by their corporate, banker overlords. Attack the Block---excellent just excellent---watched it this past weekend..from the producers of Shaun of the Dead...this film centers on a youth gang defending itself and then it's housing project from a random alien invasion.

It is both funny and not funny at the same moments which may confuse some---the special effects were tremendous, excellent acting and the alien life forms are very original...I don't think this is a film for everyone. Which may be why it might become sort of a cult classic...luckily it comes with English subtitles since both the accents and slang are beyond American English understanding..

An interesting side note is the apparent must have fashion accessory in today's under camera surveillance societies, the face mask and the hooded sweatshirt---when something like this becomes a commonplace item it then appears in films. Attack the Block displays counter surveillance fashion as standard equipment.

Attack the block proves you should always have your EDC kit with you...you just never know when things will get alien weird.

Do not want to do it--and seemingly cannot bring myself to do it as compared to every other human on the face of the earth now.....my curse is that i am a tremendous fan-boy of ultra mobile personal computing systems.

I own several UMPC's and just received another, the Sony VGN-UX280P VAIO UX Series Micro PC Handheld Notebook, purchased used from Amazon in truly like new condition for 1/8th of it's original retail price.

I wanted one of these Sony UX's when they first appeared...beyond expensive at that time (1800-2000) and of course unavailable to me. I admit to having great joy in purchasing used computers during that singular window of time--when they are still available in excellent condition, still perform their intended function perfectly and i can obtain them cheap. I use each of these bargains on a daily basis for my personal computing requirements, and are carried within my every day load out consistently. There is something magical to me in pulling out equipment from your everyday carry bag, setting up, and connecting--with equipment designed for this singular purpose..

An overriding cool factor is that this same Sony UX-280 starred in Terminator Salvation as the personal computing/communication devices used by the resistance against the machines...the one thing occupy wall street has proven is that the revolution must be available on the internet---the above 2 photo's are from the film. You didn't see John Conner bent over thumbing a cell phone like some Japanese school girl---no way.

I have been laughing all this week---at the incredible joke the republican party is---the stupidity of their chosen candidates---of the blustering talk of going to war against Iran----of the incredibly lame right wing spin accusations against OWS---at the attempt in Mississippi to make the moment of conception legally a person--( apparently masturbation in that state would have then become murder ? ) It has been a week of shaking my head with a depressing laugh. Can we not let our society fall, at least gracefully, without making a terrible historic joke out of us?

My only hope in our vapor locked government has been the knowledge and belief that the congressional super committee on budget reduction would fail by Nov. 23rd 2011...therefore creating automatic cuts in the defense department by law---This was the only possible method, i felt, to cut the throat of the largest hog at the trough, devouring the last of our national fortune---- the military. We as a nation lack the humane systems of any responsible culture but we have predator drones....Our militarism has destroyed us---and these auto-cuts i had hoped would be a first step towards the reason required to face the fact that we are a crippled, exhausted, failing empire and and last ditch attempt to salvage something of value during the fall. I understand now though that this will not be the case. Already the spin begins on how these auto-cuts cannot be allowed---since of course the super committee is going to fail, as everything we touch now fails. The military and the defense contractors will insure that they will maintain their positions of power and huge amounts of our remaining funding goes to their stupidity...while the country descends deeper and deeper into poverty. Watch and wait---there will be no cuts to the military. Failure will be spun, and advertised as a success. Your children will go hungry but the saber rattling will go on.

That the bankruptcy of the state of Alabama's largest city and county has absolutely no effect on the American stock market? Why does a shoe falling in Europe create drastic increases and falls in trading on the American stock market but dramatic economic issues within America pass completely unnoticed in wall street trading?? It is due to the fact that NOTHING in the American 1% elite financial system is invested within our nation any longer---they have zero interests in our society----other than controlling the power systems to provide them a secure home base. Our nation, our condition, our environment does not even register to the elite....we are ants beneath their feet.

We have (tiny, so far) Tomatoes and good sized lettuce flourishing in the greenhouse! We have proven through this experiment that we can grow food on the homestead on an all year basis utilizing our gardens and greenhouse with the proper procedures and organization.

This success is very meaningful to us as a vindication that we can survive on a 90x120 ft. city lot. That we are as immune as we can honestly make ourselves from the current insanity that surrounds us and the dying empire we live within. Urban Chickens are next on the agenda--for eggs and fertilizer for the garden.

I am awaiting the call for my first tattoo appointment. In case I have failed to provide updates I have decided to go through with my first tattoo...investigated and chose a location, had a consultation with the artist and made a deposit. I am now just awaiting the call of when to come in. The unusual thing is that i am already thinking of additional work--for my forearms. I have discussed this issue previously and my intense personal reasons for accomplishing this action so late in life. In considering additional work being done to my forearms i have discovered new thought experiments leading to possibly practical reasons for desiring my graphics. I have thought of the fact that since there is only my wife and I in this world...my having no family...when my body is processed by strangers there is something, well something left to tell a small story of my life. A strange outlook, i realize, but surprisingly very important to me once the issue was raised in my consciousness. Those of you that have children and family may not at all understand this issue.

Another thought that struck me is possibly one of the original reasons for visible body art---a sign displaying the message of "back the fuck off me" in a universal language...especially useful at this older stage of life and for the society that is rapidly approaching. If you had a choice of who to fuck with, a standard issue middle class old guy---or an old guy with a long ponytail and tribal tats...who would you fuck with? These two new thought experiments have led me to ask for another consultation on having tribal's done to my forearms. The style and art pictured above is only an example but in the location and type of graphic i am considering....I will advise....

Currently reading Camouflage Uniforms of European and Nato Armies. Researching both Camo that i presently own and what surplus might be of use in the future---an easy read with excellent photographs---purchased used but in perfect condition. After a tough week I need something simple and interesting to become lost in.

Fall/winter is our time for planning and organizing. We are attempting to review our procedures and maximize our outcomes. We are coming to grips with the need to go back over completed projects and detail the results. Planning garden beds...and plantings for next year. Organizing tools, supplies, rotating stored food stocks, cleaning and maintaining vehicles/bicycles. The purchase this month for the stockpile was another case of MRE's . The price of MRE's has fallen a little for whatever reason--so i ordered a case of menu B's with heaters to put back with the others. We also purchased fuel for the emergency heaters.

The local cable company was in the neighborhood this week cutting people off...another neighbor asked for a loan-----not a good sign.

We pulled anything we had, that could support the global, investment banking structure out of their hands and placed our homestead pittance in a local bank and a local credit union this week. According to news reports we were joined by some 650,000 people and 6.5 billion dollars. The amount is nothing---it doesn't even cover Big Bank management staff salaries for a year. The solidarity, is important, the concept is important, the ability to overcome the difficulties in moving your personal finances in the world of auto-deposits and auto-payments that they count on to prevent this, is important.

Making the statement that we will no longer allow you to take our money and use it against our own good in bribing politicians is extremely important!

I revisited TERMINATOR SALVATION this week by purchasing a copy of the directors cut for all of $6.00. This was a movie that when released, I viewed by rental, and originally just checked off my, to see, movie list without much thought. I was very wrong.

With personal purchase of the film I actually sat down and watched it, compared to just hurriedly viewing it when it came out, I discovered what a GREAT movie it actually is. I find myself loving the anarchist styled resistance army...their practical, but ad-hock, personalized uniforms--great weaponry and excellent textures. John Conner has an Esse Izula (my personal favorite) knife strapped to his wrist, a beautiful technical detail....the backgrounds of a destroyed society are perfect....i think the best parts are when Conner broadcasts by radio to the resistance. It seems to be real feelings against the world these people face.

I'll watch it again this weekend. This was a movie i originally, quickly, dismissed as SF action schlock, but on a second look it is quickly becoming a favorite. If you are into SF films take another slow look at Terminator Salvation.

The Invicta Russian Diver Chronograph discussed previously arrived...It is excellent, huge and I mean HUGE on the wrist and easy to read with a snap of the wrist. I had to order an additional model...one was just not enough. It appeared that this line of watches was loosing supply as if the model run was being completed. I wished to make sure I had what i needed before the access to this particular model of watch ended.

I just ordered a standard, non chronograph, black ion coated, Invicta Russian Diver watch copy pictured above. It has the same 60mm case diameter, same Arnold like hugeness on the wrist...but time, date, GMT only operation. Watches and knives----- my weaknesses.

The most recent military surplus clothing order arrived this week and my wife JoJo loves her new Arctic bomber hat, and My XL used German naval sweater is in perfect condition and fits.

....a good job ordering this time...

The design of pre/post WW2 Russian and Italian military diver watches are fascinating to me. We Americans did not contribute much to this bizarre little area of interest to me.

This was an age of Hard Hat diving and the beginning of the concept of water and pressure proofing instruments to work in this environment.

The first diving wristwatches had an extremely large (60mm) case diameter and numeral system so as to be visible through the glass plate of the hard diving helmet especially in the murk stirred by the work required primarily on the ocean floor. The large Case size was further required at that time in the designing, manufacturing and repairing of the waterproofing systems used in the mechanical watch mechanism.

This particular time frame Russian and Italian Diver watch is still manufactured today, although hard to find in a realistic format and reasonable price range..one of the few reasonably priced copies is the Invicta Russian diver displayed above. True Russian remakes are available, but the Russian's have learned the value of many of their better designed products (all from the good old revolutionary days) which now rival the pricing of any of the worlds best watches, therefore out of my league.

Even Invicta copies run the price gauntlet from $160.00 to $2000.00. A true watch Otaku will look at nothing other than a genuine Russian (and probably antique) divers watch for purchase consideration--not me--the concept provided by a remake remains true--and although the remakes are battery operated instead of mechanical, which i prefer, an Alfa Romero is beautiful to gaze upon and wondrous to own----

It must be understood that I am so lucky in that my wife is as uniquely deranged as I am in so many ways--which is why we do so well in our lives together. It was perfect weather, New Mexico stars and clusters visible at altitude and huge deer grazing. The VW Eurovan Camper performed flawlessly..our only beef was that the Rio Bonito, upon whose banks we camped was dry as a bone...(no climate change to see here, move along-----) living in the desert makes you yearn for water so that massively sucked....all our self supporting necessary systems worked very well---there is of course a great deal of tinkering we need to do with our processes---how to do things efficiently in a small space where there are two of us and two neurotic dogs...so organization is/will be a key factor next time.

I was so proud of my JoJo--she took to eating MRE's like a hungry Ranger...turns out she loves them and is as i write this searching the internet for more varieties...

We learned that we need another pad for the main fold out bed, and REAL pillows for a true night's sleep--both of these failures were mine---I got into the young me mindset of "just throw yourself down and sleep" like i used to do when just taking the rucksack off was such a break---Uh--not at all applicable for the current Geezer me condition....although I am still the same 18 year old asshole on the inside...the outside requires some additional coddling now...

I cleaned, trimmed and edged a large mat...that had been partially destroyed by the neighbor's Mastiff--(a story in itself) JoJo had the idea that the Mat was still partially usable especially for when we are camping with the VW bus as a step mat to the interior ...I have to work on this"damaged goods" concept because of my OCD---an item is either perfect or gone---there has been nothing between these two poles for me--The reconstruction actually worked well---I'm not so sure of the black duct tape edging I attempted...but if that fails I will try to heat seal the trimmed edge with the trusty cigarette lighter. My wife also found an old Northface backpack in storage I haven't seen in 5-6 years. After a good cleaning and repairing of various straps and ties it is ready to go as my "new" EDC pack for work. It is somewhat of a first for me that i find repurposing & Repairing is good exercise for the mind and liberating for the soul. But nothing half-assed.

I wake up hoping every morning that the news will contain something of value. I find the same stupidity....OWS is the only public entity of value i see and yet because they attempt to work within the system (at the moment) they accomplish nothing. We must go our own way as individuals...the group concept has failed for reasons known to us all----adapt to our 3rd world status....care for ourselves...resist.....innovate at home for your own life...create at home for your own life...grow your own food....give the least to the 1%. Starve them...

Can popular sentiment be ignored? Those in power have a history of simply not acknowledging what the people actually hold as valuable. Think of Nixon ignoring a hundred thousand marching against the war in VietNam....This ability of oppressive states and classes to ignore is why they are stood up against a wall, or guillotined with some frequency. How can bankers and traders in NY go to work every day with 2-10,000 people 3 short blocks away demanding their overthrow? Do the oppressors not think of that one spark---that one small step from waving a sign to taking justice in one's own hands? Does the 1% believe that they are forever safe? I understand that if on a daily basis I worked a short distance from a currently disgruntled pubic, which, at any moment, might become an angry public---I would at least consider my work actions and philosophy? Not these people....they have become so entrenched, so dishonest, so self righteous, so mentally secure in their feeding off the common man---that when the first rock strikes them---they will be dumbfounded.

The concept of... I do not care what the people want...or....what is right and correct for the public good... is a seeping, stinking wound that must be cauterized. A perfect example is the legalization of Marijuana---53% of the Public across all political and moral divides, want Marijuana legalized...they are tired of their children jailed for no reason..tired of the never ending expense...tired of the oppression...and just plain tired of being lied to. What will be done? NOTHING. Although we elect and pay them we have no say.....

I am required to have a cell for work--trapped like a rat---and my recent contract is not done until Oct. 2012. I will be dropping my Sprint contact on midnight Oct. 1st 2012 and this is my plan. I will purchase the use by minute smart cards from Walmart---and it will be the lowest amount possible----I hardly use the damn thing--- Then purchase one of the below illustrated JOHN'S CELL PHONES as the operating system for the new cheapo, resistance phone card system.

Working on the VW, organizing, reading and resting are on the agenda for the next nine days as I am on much needed leave next week. My Belgian Army shirts came in and they are excellent..

fit well and obtaining 3 of these shirts for $20.00 is a tremendous, practical, anti-styling protest. My Russian watch has come in and keeps perfect time..I am awaiting a replacement black, Nato watchband to install it on and then add a watchband compass making a great, cheap mechanical timepiece. The 24 hour indicator face takes a bit of getting used to but it is very logical.

The garden is pretty much done for this year---JoJo is going to try making a go of a patch of Winter Wheat this year tho.....

I have been testing and outfitting the new VW Eurovan Camper. Mechanically it is perfect. Cruises at 70mph with plenty of guts left, heater works, AC blows cold, everything necessary seems to work....Drives amazingly well. Our anarchist, peace, free Tibet and Grateful Dead stickers are on it...(very important you cannot own a VW camper without these it's the law)

I ordered a combination porta potty/shower alcove tent, pictured below.......have installed the front protective bra, the TomTom Gps that I picked up used super cheap, modified and installed my scuba diving compass to the dashboard and next week will work on installing the 50 watt solar panel power system. I'm stocking it with paper plates, emergency gear, porta potty supplies and so on.

There are one or two cosmetic items I am working on, but if the van was absolutely perfect--

I would be so depressed with nothing to do ....my plan is to set up the van with side sun porch, alcove tent and pop top up, take and post pictures here of the complete system. But bear with me since I am deep into this......

This is described as more of a wrist clock, as compared to wrist watch---beautiful...... I'll advise.

The weather in New Mexico has become beautiful and appreciated after our summer of torture. I was out outside early, working on the driveway this am wearing my new Norwegian camo field jacket---it was in the mid 50's the perfect temperature....JoJo has the kitchen full of the last remaining harvest--planning on canning and drying the last vegetables to arrive....People however have been very strange these past few weeks---responding to the negative waves floating everywhere---is the only explanation I can determine....like animals before a storm----we know what is coming.

Occupy Wall Street has turned out to be the real thing.....I wish i could add insightful commentary to the national conversation on this issue, but I like many others are supporting from the sidelines listening to what the Occupy Wall Street people are saying....hoping they are able to turn our world upside down----I've watched the live, video, internet feed of their meetings and processes---these are very smart people---I admire them. The occupation of wall street has become a perfect example of natural anarchism in action---whereas there are no OWS leaders for the current power structure to corrupt or buy off---or for the corporate media to spin against---the politicians have no idea of what to do---OWS is not political---- it is a rebellion against the complete and ongoing violation of the social contract between government and the people...

Too tired from work this week to read at night---I just come home 12 hours after waking up, compute a bit and then sleep so no new book reviews this week.

Most of the action around the homestead this past week has involved the kitchen---JoJo is doing all the work, organizing, dehydrating garden produce, and baking bread...I have not really been doing much of anything this past week other than hypermiling with the Prius on the commute to 52.7 mpg, sharpening knives, emailing friends and working on my every day carry equipment and once completed with this blog I'll clean and organize the house...it is that odd early fall...between the what you can and can't do times...

I am constantly grateful and thankful that we grow our own fruits and vegetables---allowing us to ignoring the most recent contaminated produce poisoning deaths of consumers---those still dependent on the commercial farming system, the Republicans want to destroy the FDA...a relative number of citizen deaths from contaminated food is obviously acceptable to the Republican Taliban---after all you can pray over your food to make it safe--can't you????

Congratulations to those 2,000 + protesters occupying wall street---last week I was sure that the occupation would collapse after the arrest of 55 demonstrators...but was I ever wrong. The corporate controlled media still ignores what is happening as does the elite bastards sucking the life out of us...but the action taking place in NYC is a symbol, you don't have to be a weatherman to tell which way the wind blows.... My watch Otaku will never subside---i cannot fight it...I give in.....above is my most recent watch order. A Soviet mechanical 17 jewel, 1937 Arctic North Polar expedition commemorative watch, new old stock. I ordered a black Nato web 18mm watch band to replace the standard crummy Soviet watchband that is the usual with these watches. This is the 2nd Soviet mechanical watch in my collection. The other displayed below a Poljot mechanical chronograph, 23 jewel movement, I purchased close to 10 years ago whose value has now increased 10 fold over my original cost--I bought the below chronograph when Soviet watches were practically unknown here...but still one of my better investments? Still works perfectly!

Our VW EuroVan Camper is still in California---we haven't had any offers at our cheapest transport rate so we will have to get off the dime and pay more for transport by big truck---but we tried to save what we could....maybe we can get it in route next week by being willing to pay more? The morning temperatures have dropped into the 50's, although here in the desert here by noon it's the low 90's---still---- it is nice and the season is definitely changing....the Prius is now getting 52.7 mpg on my daily work commute since the wind direction has changed with the seasons....bite me Dick Cheney....

I have a big pile of books next to the bed awaiting reading...it's great...there is nothing better than to have books wanting to talk to you.

I am so thankful we are the way we are---right now there are 12 jars of crab apple jelly sitting on the kitchen counter that my JoJo created yesterday---from our own crab apple tree out front. This weekend I'll be peeling/coring/slicing the last of the traded for apples, with our little Amish machine and we'll can apple pie filling for the winter. Our surplus vegetables are dried, the greenhouse is planted for the winter and on the first day of fall we were as prepared as we could be for the winter---I stood out front of our house this morning and marveled at what we do--(without being prideful, just honest) on a 90x120 lot, with a house built in 1903, 3 blocks from the town business district. It has not been easy, and when others were traveling and vacationing we were working building our soil, putting up a wind generator---sort of an ant and grasshopper thing. But the results cannot be disputed...we are safe from what occurs out there...

The book of the week is "The World as it is, Dispatches on the Myth of Human Progress" by Chris Hedges....a collection of essays on the current situation in the United States and our upcoming descent into 3rd world status....Mr. Hedges is a former foreign correspondent turned social author/activist....he is a brilliant and elegant writer and thinker. Mr. Hedges is one of the last remaining thinkers whose ability to be heard over the roar of stupidity is diminishing day by day as our society falls into idiocracy......I can only recommend this book to those willing to think----

The Wall Street protest is apparently down to about 50 persons left....An American style Arab Spring type occupation protest against wall street capitalists....NYPD blocked off wall street to the protesters keeping them 3 blocks away to protect their corporate masters from actually having to see the common human angry with them and there was a news black out on the subject---very very limited coverage---which isn't surprising since the corporate world owns the media today......I admire the attempt, courage of those who did this.....

Ok I have a thing about applying Military Surplus clothing to my civilian life....the sheer utility and durability of military clothing is perfect for me(and of course for my complete lack of style). Last winter I purchased and used all through the snow season a used French Army Parka...it is/was excellent...this year I wanted to find a system for when it is cold--but layering is practical as compared to a parka---You are already seen my Italian Marine light field jacket---it is excellent but needs some kind of liner...I was lucky to find the below displayed woolrich tactical vest...I found it in my size on sale for way way way less than 1/3 of it's usual $250.00 asking price. Thin, very warm and loaded with pockets this vest makes the perfect under layer.

My thoughts are to use the above vest as a warmer/liner layer for both my Italian Marine Camo field jacket and my newest military surplus purchase which is on the way--a used, Norwegian Army, Camo field jacket.

With these two latest purchases I am now complete for winter....Norwegian and Italian for fall, and French for deep winter....all on the most excellent cheap.....

I published two blogs this weekend---an abnormality for me....but much like this weekend---I spent half of it asleep--then awoke with a passion and accomplished much---very strange indeed....I have been making great strides ignoring work while at work...becoming totally zen like against the stupidity in both people and process that surrounds me...... No tattoo yet....but still planning on it when the opportunity permits....working on ignoring society and our government...if i can ignore it hard enough will it go away----do the Amish know who is president??

Cooler weather here in New Mexico, my every day carry systems will change in a few weeks....especially my weapons carriage....(I am a ccw license holder for those unfamiliar with my blog)---Throughout the summer I have carried a .32 semi-automatic pistol in an ankle holster...too hot to carry anything else---but as with all things familiarity breeds contempt...I can barely wait for jacket weather so I can get this thing off my foot---it's become like one of those house arrest ankle things----so I am working on my cold weather carry system....My beautiful, most excellent wife, as a birthday present gave me a Beretta model 87 .22 caliber pistol (displayed below)

...how lucky am i eh?? and I know it...this is a hitter's pistol--front barrel weight, single action, high profile sights and electronic sighting rail...holsters for this type of unique pistol are tough to find but I purchased and modified a nylon shoulder holster which works perfectly, holding this long square pistol and two spare 10 round magazines on the weak side... the recent purchase of a Boker folding knife (displayed above) for attachment to the spare magazine pouches completes this winter weapons system.

I have to adjust the shoulder holster, figure a way to mount the knife and so forth but that is the part that appeals to me--working things out to a successful conclusion...even tho I am getting older... as Laurence Fishburne said in Predators 2010--"I'm the one you don't fuck with".

We were given a box of, less than perfect, apples by a farmer friend of ours...which work out great for us....this weekend using a wonderful little, Amish like, mechanical device, that cores, peels and slices apples...we processed about 40 for the food dehydrator. We'll probably do about 40 more to make and can apple pie filling next.

These were apples that couldn't be sold for one reason or another, blemishes etc...we are really starting to get a system going at the homestead where products we grow or trade for we use in two or three different methods and the residue, in this case the peels and cores go to the worm farm...to produce fertilizer and nutrient's for the garden... stuff like this is worm crack, they go crazy for it.

Homesteading is the ultimate resistance---like being a vegetable orientated John Conner...if we can support ourselves---by gardening, with solar panels, by trading, by helping each other in small co-ops...by driving a fuel efficient vehicle or by biking-----this is what the machine is afraid of.....they want you dependent....so to me spending an afternoon coring apples is resistance....driving my Prius is resistance, helping my neighbors is resistance...

Every minute we inch closer to class warfare in the United States. The unspoken tax the rich necessity propels this conflict forward. How long do those who rule think that we can go on in the current form of stupidity---before the rocks get thrown? Why do Republicans only speak to their supporters if their beliefs and thought structure is so pure and correct---why not bring their theories on trickle down economics to the masses in the unemployment line? To those living in their cars? The reason is class warfare----- the GOP---- is completely and totally against the poor and middle classes. The GOP want's you stupid, want's you to believe that government give away's are the problem...while they protect their banker masters and are lap dogs to the defense industries in open robbery of the people.

I grew up outside of New York City. The concept of North, South, East and West did not exist in what passed for common communication there---directions were such as--- turn right at da refinery and den turn left at da junkyard....this is a handicap i still carry--- here in New Mexico there is no left or right in directional communication----everything is based on you being born with some internal compass navigation system giving them the secret knowledge of where fucking north is...similar to what whales and birds have--- this allows New Mexicans to cross great distances without ever mentioning right or left...I have been making attempts to adapt---almost all my watches have either a compass mode or a small compass attached to the watchband---this is something I have to have.....because once the sunrises I have no fucking idea of what is east! Unfortunately the tiny, cheapo watchband compass leaves a lot to be desired---as in I can't simply look down and figure it out---I wind up turning around in a circle confused----so in a last ditch attempt to keep the locals from laughing at me as they lean against their diesel pickup trucks outside the local cafe---- I ordered a big, fucking, scuba diving wrist compass....if this doesn't show me at a glance what direction I'm going then i am lost forever out here.

The VW Eurovan Camper's paperwork is done--returned and it's paid for. Awaiting auto-transporting to us here at home--meanwhile I have been collating camping gear and purchasing the odd accessory item like the magnetically attached sunshade below for use on the side door area of the camper since ours does not have an awning as the one pictured above has---we're hoping it arrives here before it gets too cold for the first camping expedition. No matter since we are deliriously happy about our van.

The second is the above $24.00 watch I found trolling the sale aisle in Amazon---I'm going to add a watchband compass and enjoy it...there is something so cool about both cheap and styling...the instructions came only in Spanish??

The food storage shed is all organized and winterized now as well as anti-moused--just in case. With a turn for the better in the weather some plants we thought were done for because of the heat and drought are starting to produce? Amazing--- We gave away a ton of perfect, huge---Desert Sun yellow watermelons----as always it feels excellent to give something like this to people who do not have............

We are prepping for the fall and winter....this months food to storage I found new types of end of the world meals on Amazon---tuna with pasta and pepper beef---the tuna with pasta comes in a case of 6 and the beef pepper meals come individually, i obtained 3----both have that unlimited shelf life circumstance as long as they are kept from extreme heat in storage--the beef pepper meals also have their own heater---even tho these meals are not military---sort of science fiction like---I am going to have to try one this month for testing and will advise on it----

Currently reading "The Art of not being Governed" by James C. Scott. An interesting analysis of why hill people, forest people, swamp people--well you know---are not barbarians but rather simply chose not to be governed by the low land culture centers...that often the cultural center's people escape to the hills fleeing government....that the outlander groups are often not natural...the book focuses on SE Asia for examples but the process and interpretations are viable anywhere...absolutely not for everyone---my JoJo makes the ugh! face when I speak of how good it is......

Rented STAKE LAND this week. Bear in mind that this was not a high budget film but---i think it was excellent. The usual Zombie/vampire (you're never really sure what these things are) plot line with survivors on a road trip---there's no faking in this movie however and the way humans have banded up in differing ways to survive is interesting in itself---this is a rental for sure, but if you like these kinds of movies, as I do---there's nothing better than STAKE LAND and pizza for an evening.

Received a new larger food dehydrator this week and JoJo is drying and storing vegetables and fruits in mass-----

We have planted the greenhouse for the overwinter vegetable experiment---

I am getting ready to go out and patch our driveway shade shelter that a windstorm ripped up--

and wire up one of our small solar panels to a couple of AA battery chargers as a small experiment.

The heat is starting to break a small amount in the mornings although the afternoons are still deadly---but it's a sign that the season is changing---this summer was an incredibly tough one for humans, plants and animals---coyotes in town---a bad sign.

0% job growth last month---in a society which requires 130,000 NEW jobs to be created each month merely to accept new members entering society--the young, the immigrant, the laid off by closure unemployed---how can the-------- USA---USA---- shouters and chest beaters remain so fucking blind----We now rank 40th among nations in the world in infant survival----40th !! A drop from our previously held position of 26th.....and what we will get from our supposed leaders----a speech.

Today we are negotiating the possible purchase of a 1999 Volkswagen Eurovan Camper. The concept that it is impossible to retire...that it is better to have a useful physical thing as compared to forced participation in scam stock market retirement accounts is what pushes this purchase...JoJo and I after much consideration have decided on a vehicle represented by the sample photo above...self contained with a small kitchen, bunks, water and electric...the Camper will serve as an ability to escape the low desert summer heat which is increasing with global warming by traveling to the nearby mountains on the weekends---a possible bug out vehicle if necessary....and like our greenhouse a method of investing in something that has actual, physical, useful returns for the world we are facing. It is not huge, it is within our means, it is not conspicuous consumption of resources....it will be a useful tool in our lives and at the homestead.

Currently reading "HE, SHE, and IT" by Marge Piercy- a cyberpunk novel of the corporate future where an independent commune in the environmental wasteland build a cyborg to protect themselves from corporate domination----and the woman programmer who falls in love with it---the book is just completely excellent--------- populated with characters such as a female ninja from a surviving community of a handful of women who grew up in the post nuclear wasteland of the middle east who are both Jewish and Muslim....to how they survive beneath tent like shelters to avoid the power of the sun...to cyborg hand to hand combat against enhanced humans...I haven't finished it yet but I will be sorry to see it end. Some God shouters, with their kids, rang my doorbell today, nice people, but wanting to "read me just one bible passage"... I told them I admired their dedication but "I'm an Anarchist" between that statement and my pony tail, they rapidly beat feet, herding their children off my porch before they were contaminated.....this is an accidental but massively elegant solution to to the ongoing, God shouters at my door problem---

In further considering this incident and it's accidental solution it reinforced my current thinking that I need this simple, clean, anarchist symbol below tattooed on my arm...

I don't know if you share this experience but many people at work and in casual contact recently have been speaking of signs....the east coast earthquake is a sign, the damage to the Washington monument is a sign, the east coast hurricane is a sign--blahblahblahblahblah---blah. As if they can understand these things.....I'm not a believer at all in the 2012 type end of the world scenario thing's. That is the cowards way out---a failure to accept what we have done to ourselves through our own stupidity and acceptance of the stupidity of our supposed leadership...

Our society is going to end because you/we fucked it up---not because of some planetary alignment or natural disaster. The end is going to be slow not fast and your rapture is going to put you living under a highway overpass not heaven---you better get used to the idea....

Congress and the President are coming back from their expensive, corporate or taxpayer funded vacations to face the Federal Budget (which is on a continuing resolution till 09-02-11) an economy running at only 1% growth this past year and the need to reduce the deficit before the new law they passed automatically does it for them in November...I personally hope they screw the pooch and fail on deficit reduction since it is the only way the defense department faces a cut---an automatic 500 billion cut at that...i just want them to keep doing what they are doing---nothing---it's the only way we get any amount of reduction in defense spending....a curse on all their houses.

Our yellow Armenian watermelons have come in and they are excellent---these are, of course, an eat em' while you got em' product---but we can trade a few with the folks across the street for something we haven't planted---two baskets of yellow pears are on the kitchen counter ready for canning, and we have planted trays of lettuce along with pots of tomatoes and peppers in the greenhouse for the fall. I'm still shelling pecans in spare moments---- we are about ready to see how our one test row of peanuts did, and we are still considering getting two hens in the spring.....

I added another case of commercial, not military, MRE's to the emergency food stockpile and tomorrow I am doing the pre-fall check to insure we are mouse proof in the long term storage food area...all this on a 90'x120' urban lot---3 blocks off downtown in our mid-sized city.....even tho pride is an ugly thing, i am sitting here so pleased with what JoJo and I have built for ourselves out of almost nothing.

I've found that Anarchism as a political belief structure and homesteading click together as if you were reassembling a well oiled, familiar weapon...there are no disconnects between one's belief system and life. The homesteading concept of sharing--trading---cooperative giving of what you have of in excess to others for what you do not have enlightens the day to day world and proves there is another way, a better way.

I've come to grips with postponing retirement---and mentally accepting of it...but we will not live in fear of the future....more on this in other posts.

I hate to advise this but throughout my life I knew, always knew there would be nothing there for me at the end....

JoJo would tell me what a pessimist I was. But honestly, I did know this...I am not saying this in a prideful way or as an attempt to appear as a big ole brain. I just knew it---the same as we all know inside when they speak to us claiming the truth, it is just more lies.

So we came to the conclusion that i will have to work forever---I am actually accepting of this and it is comforting to finally cast off the lies and propaganda. To rid myself of hope. There is always freedom in truth.

I am currently reading two books. The first, continuing my study of Anarchism is "The Art of Not being Governed" by James C. Scott.

The second "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline is a Post Cyber-Punk novel. At the moment I have only scratched the surface of both books but within the first 30 pages of both I feel as if I made good choices---I will review/advise on both when completed. Reading Anarchist Philosophy and Cyberpunk Dystopia appears to be the only way to stay sane faced with our current society.

A term used with frequency to describe our present economic depression is the lost decade. Economists are projecting a 10 year disturbance in the American economic force. Reading--Chickens in your Backyard, The Beginner's guide to Anarchy and The Survivor Personality---enduring the heat and the drought here on a daily basis...storing MRE's...dehydrating vegetables from the garden...fighting off, as best I can the brain death numbness of work....and like everyone else, watching our government and economic system twirl into the death spiral...

We are close to the end now---the stock market has finally realized that there is a real economy out here that is fucked and that their Little Richie Rich play trading and banking is useless---the Chinese call us irresponsible, Russia's Putin says we are economic parasites on the world's economy, debt ceiling debate shows the factual idiocy of our supposed leadership, unemployment compensation for hundreds of thousands will soon run out and our national bond economic rating----stable since 1917 at AAA is downgraded to a level which is equal to Belgium's. We were lucky in the fact that the truth did not truly will out in this bond rating process otherwise we'd be ranked with the Sudan since our infrastructure will soon be at the same level as theirs.

American's for all their bullshit talk of "don't tread on me" will not do the righteous thing. We never take to the streets in mass for our own defense as do the Europeans---we need to pull up cobblestones and throw them through the front windows of AIG's headquarters....we need to stone the limousines of the political cretins and bankers every time they pass us by----- exactly the way the English attacked Prince Charles's limo a couple of months ago----for all of our big Clint Eastwood talk we Americans are weaklings and the elite know it---that's why they are walking all over us.....dooming us to poverty and an old age of hunger and darkness.

I am current reading Dark Ages America by Morris Berman. Although published in 2006 the thoughts and theories in this book are up to date and current, accurately describing our downfall process even 5 years later----proving Mr. Berman's theories and projections as truth. The book is an excellent reminder that the ignorance, stupidity, and religious fundamentalism of the Bush Administration is what caused our downfall to 3rd world status.

In the nightstand stack is Anarchism, a beginners guide by Ruth Kinna. Looking forward to starting this one. It is sort of hard to believe that there is a beginners guide to Anarchism? Sort of an Oxymoron in a way?

Viewed the Movie Source Code this past week and thought it excellent---the film focused on a theme of a recurring 8 minute time frame, the main character's very cool watch was often featured. A bit of research and I determined that the chronograph featured in the film is a Victorinox Swiss Army Chrono Classic XLS MT--- runs about $700.000---- movie watches are always excellent but always expensive.....Although I have now acquired enough watches to cover my needs---my watch Otaku remains...

I know of no more disagreeable situation than to be left feeling generally angry without anybody in particular to be angry at.

Working, gardening, researching future projects this week. We in New Mexico shake our heads at State's declaring temperature emergency's in the east----a day here in Southern New Mexico at 114 degrees is called Tuesday.......

We are observers to what we have created, what we as as society encouraged in our leadership. Watching the deficit, budget crisis---this gladiatorial combat of the politically absurd must be what we, overall as a society wanted--- it would not be allowed to exist....if we as a people collectively did not accept it.

Although we the people now means we the people of Wal-Mart, who think and write at a 6th grade level....

I have been finishing, wrapping up, considering complete many of my ongoing personal projects. It is time to declare them done....I realized that as important as it is to plan, organize and work these projects it is equally important to know when they are complete...a simple concept but one i would often overlook when I am totally focused on a project...

In stating that these projects are complete it does not at all mean that they are put away----these completed projects are all in daily use...it simply means that I have acquired, built, modified, or thought through what i need and am now using this project to it's fullest capacity.... Every Day Carry, watches, knives, food supplies, alternative energy, gardening, homesteading------all these projects have been either completed or are one step away from being fulfilled......I also understand that in the back of my mind I am preparing for the next project---the jeep project and loose ends must be cleaned up, money saved, and information obtained prior to starting the used, retirement, adventure vehicle---I'll advise.

I've purchased my last chronograph---I have a thing for watches---but I have decided that with the purchase of this Casio G-Shock Pathfinder I have what I need....solar powered, atomic time set by radio signal, compass, sunrise and sunset time indicators, alarms every and anything I need on one watch....I am now done. Long ago, I had decided that rather than one very expensive watch I preferred having multiple cheaper watches for use dependent on my day to day circumstances and I have done this, I have now acquired what I need and the watch project is closed.

I am glad however that this particular watch closes out my project---it is wondrous......
